My band want to start gigging again and we cant find any links to places that are looking for bands. We would prefer to play with other bands so we don't have to fill a venue alone. If you know of any places that will let you play for less than €200 please let me know. If you know of bands that are looking for others to play gigs with them that would also be a great help.

If you wanna play a slot and get paid and not have to organize anything, try places like Captain Americas and The Porterhouse. Just spend a day walkin around town and go into anywhere that is / could be a venue and ask about it, ye might even start somethin new

In terms of doin your own gig, diff nights are diff prices. Maybe try Whelans on a Monday/Tuesday, or Crawdaddy

Do they pay the bands to play, or let them charge a cover?

Saucy Sundays at The Grand Social, every sunday.
    you dont pay to play.

also sunday roast at mercantile is good for new bands too.

the two above start at different times so if you timed it right, or just asked you could try play a set at the grand social then move over to the mercantile
These type of shows are good cause u get practice and meet other bands.

The Pint is 200 at the most but i heard sound isnt the best
small room upstairs in whelans is 200 or 180 if you do the door yourself
sweeneys is always free as far as i know and i like downstairs dont know about the sound but its a cool place.

depending on your type of music there are a **** load of acousticish, folky nights on around. heres a few

    apollo sessions

    bleecher sessions

you wont get payed for these, its about building up your name.
you shouldnt expect to get payed if you cant bring in an audience.
you wana make money build up your reputation then start headlining yourself
But NEVER PAY ANYONE TO PLAY A GIG...
