Hi, I have just moved my family to Athlone, near the centre of town. Can anyone recommend a good GP Service for my wife, 5 year old child and I?
I know there are a few around I've seen them, but I'm looking for recommendations rather than directions.

    Thanks.

I've used Dr. John Rice for the last 20 years, a good guy. His practice is now behind the Athlone Town Centre.

Rose O Learys been my doc for as long as i can remember. No issues with her, although she has (twice) managed to mistake me for a smoker due to cough symptoms. My own fault for socialising with so many of them!

Newtown Medical Centre - Dr. Lowrys, There is a few doctors in it. Its like a small hospital. I'd definitely recommend it.

+2 Newtown Medical Centre. Its located beside the cresent junction and across the road from Roslevin Lawns. Dr Brody is one of the best

It's not across the road from Roslevin Lawns, it's across the road from a cul-de-sac of four houses called Southlands which is sandwiched between the Crescent and the railway line. As you drive towards the Ballymahon Road (N55) from Garden Vale/Fair Green, Newton Terrace is the last right turn before the railway bridge, Roslevin is the other side of the railway bridge.

The medical centre is the first building in Newtown Tce., immediately on your left as you drive in.

Dr. Rice or any doctor in that establishment, I have used Dr. Rice for the most part, smashed my arm one day and O'Meara was just on duty and he sorted everything from Hospital to pain meds and everything so that was a nice experience. I then got suspected meningitis and had to go to the woman doctor in there, she was also very good, even with a hopeless fool with a serious fear of needles, out of that meningitis was told I do have a problem with my heart, I then came back to Dr. John Rice who done all ecgs and all and got me an appointment with the top heart specialist in the country, all good experiences, some of their reception staff (not all now 75% of them are very nice to deal with) leave alot to be desired, i have had problems on two occasions with them
