Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Now destroying a tried and tested RTE show
I thought when they stuck her on daytime tv that would solve my concerns of ever having to listen to her again, but no
    Who decides these things
Is RTE that stuck for talent
For the record, I wouldn't mind watching her on tv for one reason or another
however, as a radio broadcaster she is hopeless

    I think she is good

    please elaborate
she cant wander from the script and when she has to the cringe kicks in
just not the brightest in my opinion
fine if interviewing diarmaid gavin bout his new fish pond but politics / economics are a complete no go area
read her tweets every now and then if not convinced
she says "all views are her own"
personally i thought it was some junior cert student having a laugh on a few occasions
ps - i'm not following her on twitter!

You mean the Marian Finnucane Charlie Bird Programme.

Neither Charlie or his regular substitute, Marian are currently available.

A spokesman for RTÉ said the reason for their absence is called "Summer".;)

It is believed that Claire Byrne forgot her car keys, returned to the Radio Centre to get them and ended up covering for Charlie and Marian.

    summer should not equal drivel
she is not intellectual enough to hold down a current affairs gig at rte
send her back to newstalk or 98fm

The problem with Claire as a radio presenter ,in my opinion, is that she has about as much enthusiasm and animation and interest in her voice as a wet old sock.

I thought Aoife Kavanagh was dull till I listened to Claire.

Monotone delivery, no inflections or off the cuff stuff. No rapport with the guests, dull.

If Claire were the regular presenter,I would give that show a miss.

She would do well to cut out the "off the cuff" remarks in the wake of BAI ruling re Susan Boyle

A COMPLAINT against Newstalk Breakfast Show presenter Claire Byrne for calling singer Susan Boyle a “freak” and “not right in the head” has been upheld by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

In a finding published yesterday the authority said Ms Byrne’s comments were “inherently offensive”, “disrespectful” and “not editorially justified”.

Ms Byrne made the remarks on-air when she was speaking to presenter Tom Dunne, who was doing the morning programme that followed on from the Breakfast Show .

While previewing his programme, Dunne and Ivan Yates, Byrne’s co-presenter, both said how good a singer Boyle was.

Byrne disagreed and said: “She annoys me. I can’t listen to her or watch her. She does my head in. The whole thing, she’s a freak show, she’s a freak . . . she’s not right in the head . . . it’s because she’s a freak that she’s up there.”

i'd say rte have put the reins on her completely
surely her show with that kerry bloke must be tv gold tho (not the type of gold rte however had hoped for i'd imagine)

She [Claire Byrne] has just described Kate Midleton as Prince Charles new bride on the Marian Finucane show!

While discussing the Norwegian Island massacre with a survivor, she asked a question that should go down as a classic.

Was it "How many guns did the guy have?" No.

Was it "Did he aim a gun at you?" No.

Was it "Did the guy look out of control?" No.

It was: "Was the water cold?"
