Am heading to Falls Creek in a couple of weeks, from Melbourne. Here on a 457 visa so have private health insuance. What do people recommend as to whether we need travel insurance or not?

It depends what level health insurance you have, if you say fall break your leg and need an operation - will it cover ambulance(either air or land) and cost of operation, and beds

If it doesn't are you gonna risk a couple of hundred on potentially thousands

Why not ring your private health insurer and ask them what, if any, your cover is? Maybe they have a cheaper add on for skiing.
