Time for a new build!

Hi guys.

With the help of boardies I built a really great budget pc about 4 years ago. Unfortunatly the PC bit the bullet a few weeks ago so it's time to build again.

I've a budget of about 1200 give or take.
I want this to be a pretty good gamer pc and I will be overclocking so I guess coolers and fans are important.

I'm in my 3rd year of music performance so I'll be using recording and music writing programs which can be quite laggy on lower end pcs.

I have monitor, keyboard, windows 7 64bit etc.

I'm totally out of the PC scene right now because I never needed to upgrade so I'm open to anything.

Also I've had the worst luck with wireless cards for windows 7 not working properally so I need one thats going to work.

Since you have a bit more budget, you can always swap to Two 560 Ti instead of a single 570 (I didn't check the mobo though, so that probably will need to change if it doesn't support SLI) or something.

Edit: Just noticed you do music stuff. Do you need any specialist sound card or do you have that already?

Yea good idea. Tbh some Sata cables and my cd/DVD drive are about the only things I'd reuse. The case I have would not be sufficent for cooling and it's loud as heck.

Right then, See above, throw in a few Sata Cables and a 2.5>3.5 adaptor from Memory C (no more than €15) and you should be done.

As always, wait for others to comment as well, because I am generally an idiot. :P

The only issue with that build is the case is due to be in stock tomorrow, so if it doesn't come in you will need to pick a different one. I choose it because it's one of the only cases available with an internal USB3.0 header(meaning the front panel USB3.0 ports plug into the motherboard rather than a USB3.0 port at the back)

I don't think I need a special sound card I already have a I/O device that i use for connecting mics, guitars etc that I run headphones through when I'm recording and such.

Well, run to Hardwareversand, Make a PC (don't use the COnfigurator, it's useless), use FLuffy's script to turn it into a Postable format, post it here and we'll tell you what's wrong/needs changing. Use mine and Fluffies examples as a base if you wish! :P

The box comes with a fan, the tray does not. For the sake of a quid i'd get the box tbh, handy to have a spare cooler should you ever need one.

Lol I haven't quite reached that status so I'll get the box...I actually really like fluffys build but they case seems to be MIA :P

I could pick it up from overclockers though...I've spent 4 years with a seriously boring case so wouldn't mind something a bit different looking :P

OK I've thrown some things together it's nearly identical to fluffys build.




I have a sony cd drive from my old build...any point adding a blue ray drive or will i just stick to my cd drive?

The CM Storm Enforcer is in stock on hwvs now.

I went with the Antec PSU as I saw it got some extremely good reviews plus it's modular. I don't know much about the Corsair one, but it should be good and from the price I expect it's modular too.

Monotype

The 650HX is built on the Seasonic S12D or E while the antec TPN is a variation of the Seasonic M12D, IIRC. The TPN should perform a bit better.
