All I'd say is that I prefer BOI to NIBs internet banking. They're the two I have experience of.

This is my summary of the online functionality provided by the NIB online banking facility:

    • View Mandates on your accounts
    • Transfer funds between accounts
    • Transfer funds to other accounts
    • Transfer funds internationally
    • Setup and maintain payees, including international
    • Setup and manage standing orders including payment holidays
    • Send and receive secure mail
    • Setup and maintain SMS message rules for Balance and Transaction events
    • Manage Debit and Credit Cards including changing PIN and renewing and blocking
    • View latest FX Rates
    • View Share & Index Prices
    • Trade Shares and Danske Funds
    • View Reuters and General Market News
    • Manage a Pension Portfolio (Danica eLife)
    • View Pension Transactions
    • Switch Pension between Funds

Agree on NIB I think they have the best online banking service
have used BOI online for business only and have seen AIB's offering both are pretty lame basically compared to NIB
NIB seems to be able to do more and a lot better to work with
Have been a happy NIB customer for over 20 years

    +1 for NIB.
BOI by far the worst I have used. AIB is much better than it. Far easier to set up accounts for money transfers

It is easier to use the NIB site. Its just the over complicated log in process that completely irritates me.

NIB is very good but AIB is second best in my opinion.

You can do mobile topup and pay bills on AIB whereas its not so straight forward with NIB.

AIB also allow you to pay bills by credit card, NIB charge all debits on their account with cash advance fees, AIB don't.

Does NIB have a physical unit as well..?

How do you transfer money to this bank and what is it like in terms of reliability,..As in compared to aib or rabo direct would it be likely to go under?

With National Irish Bank eBanking you get an 8 digit user ID and a pin. You can select a new 4 digit pin any time. You don't have a physical device, you get a plastic card (like a credit card) with 90 security codes.

When you enter your ID and pin you're asked for a code from that card.

You then use the 4 digit pin to sign transactions. They call that eSignature.

You transfer money in using their sort code and account number like AIB / BOI.

They don't have cash services anymore. They outsourced this to An Post.

You can lodge and withdraw at any post office.

They are a danish bank, Danske. And NIB is an Irish branch.

In terms of safety, I believe they have a strong credit rating, but you would need to confirm this with them.

Their eBanking is probably one of the most modern.

They are a full bank so offer everything that any other high street bank offer here in Ireland.
