    The spurs young team has been doing preseason in the Algarve and managed a 3-2 win over Forest and a 2-2 Draw with Brighton. There were an extra few "older" players involved like Andros Townsend and Jake Livermore but at the same time the likes of Steven Caulker probably won't be turning out for us given his loan spell a swansea.

    United are also in line to join next year as are Real Madrid I think.

    Likely Spurs squad for next Gen series

    Mirko Ranieri GK
    Jordan Archer GK
    Nathan Byrne
    Adam Smith
    Tom Carroll
    Ryan Fredricks
    Ryan Mason
    Kudos Oyenuga
    Cameron Lancaster
    Waller-lassen
    Dean Parrett
    John Bostock
    Soulymane Coubili
    Cristian Ceballos
    Harry Kane

    We are a bit short on defenders in the youth team but we recently had a young greek CB and srbian LB on trial in portugal so they could yet be signed. Of the players listed 5 were brought in from other clubs raneri, bostock, parrett, coubilli and Ceballos. The rest have come through our academy. Tom Carroll and Harry Kane are probably the most promising.

    Group 1

    * FC Barcelona
    * Celtic FC
    * Manchester City FC
    * Marseille

    Group 2

    * Sporting Lisbon
    * Liverpool FC
    * Molde FK
    * Vfl Wolfsburg

    Group 3

    * Ajax
    * Aston Villa FC
    * Fenerbahce SK
    * Rosenborg BK

    Group 4

    * FC Basel
    * PSV Eindhoven
    * Inter Milan
    * Tottenham Hotspur FC

    Group 4

    FC Basel VS Tottenham Hotspur 17.08.11 18.00 GMT Stadium Rankhof
    FC Basel VS PSV Eindhoven 31.08.11 18.00 GMT Stadium Rankhof
    Tottenham Hotspur VS Inter Milan 31.08.11 18.00 GMT Spurs Lodge

    Also they will allow three players over-aged players (no older than 20) to join the squad. The idea is to encourage the use of younger players.

    Where do ye get the results and match reports from these games? I've tried a few different sites and I've googled it but found nothing.

    The spurs site normally does our games but that youtube channel has interviews and games and then the next gen site would be the next best one I'd say for finding out how teams played.

    Has our online TV station been showing these games? If not then it is a poor show.

    Jack Munns grabbed a last-gasp winner as our Under-19 team beat PSV 2-1 in the NextGen Series on Tuesday night.

    Tim Sherwood’s side dominated the early proceedings at PSV's De Herdgang training facility and were unfortunate not to have taken the lead in the sixth minute when Massimo Luongo saw his left-footed strike cannon back off the post.

    Despite continuing to control the game the lads were denied twice more by the woodwork as Milos Veljkovic and Alex Pritchard struck the crossbar from corners with PSV struggling to deal with the deliveries of John Bostock.

    It seemed as though it was going to be one of those nights as we wasted numerous opportunities with Souleymane Coulibaly going close on three occasions.

    However, the powerful striker wasn’t to be denied and scored his third goal of the competition just before the break as he slid in Laste Dombaxe’s cross from the left.

    The second half proved to be a more competitive affair as PSV began to press forward and create opportunities.

    Jonathan Miles produced an outstanding save in the 57th minute from close range to keep our lads in the lead.

    However Miles was powerless to prevent PSV’s equaliser as Mohammed Rayhi’s free-kick from the left-hand side eluded everyone in the penalty area and found the bottom corner in the 61st minute.

    Miles was in the thick of the action again in the 68th minute saving well to his left as both teams looked to grab a winner.

    It looked as though we were going to receive a golden opportunity to regain the lead as Kudus Oyenuga was bundled over in the penalty area, however the referee saw nothing wrong with Eric Verstappen’s challenge.

    With time running out both substitutes combined to produce a dramatic finale in the 89th minute as Jake Nicholson’s long range effort was parried out and Jack Munns was quickest to react, finishing from close range.

    The lads saw out the final moments of the game to secure maximum points and now find themselves top of Group Four with seven points from three matches.

    Our next fixture comes on the October 19 when it will be PSV’s turn to travel to London.

    Spurs (4-3-1-2); Miles; Barthram; Stewart; Veljkovic; Day; Luongo; Dombaxe; Pritchard; Bostock (Nicholson, 70); Oyenuga (Munns, 74); Coulibaly. Unused substitutes – Ekong, Ango

    Aye Tim Sherwood is doing some job to be honest. Delighted to see much more focus on the youths, the progress of top quality youths to first team at Spurs has been dreadful for years.

    harry seems to of come at the right time as we finally look like bringing through a few from the academy and he's pretty decent at letting them prove themselves.

    Well to be honest alot of this infrastructure had been incoming since before Santini. It's only really now that we're seeing the fruits of the seeds sown. I think Harry hasnt been one to breed young players in his career but thankfully is changing that side of things at Spurs. He's still not really breeding the young, not until this season because Europa League doesnt seem to be too high on his priorities so it makes sense to allow the younger lads to have a go.

    Although in saying all that it was under HR that reserve team was scrapped and players instead have been sent out on loan right?

    Liverpool on Wednesday should be good the team that slapped them round in Europe got beaten by inter 1-0 in a very defensive display so hopefully it means we are likely to win well at the lane COYS

    nice one, barca or ajax in semis.

    Our star players never touched the ball tonight :shock:

    We were poor today Pritchard was excellent as was coulthirst Nicholsen and miles were excellent at the back too

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

    The most important thing to remember is that a lot of players are only just turned 17 and Veljkovic is 16, Gomelt & Coulibaly young 17s, Coulthirst 17.

    Good spine of a team that has a lot of growing to do.

    I think Liverpool were that a bit older apart from Sterling who is a young 17.

    Was a good performance despite missing players like Kane, Carroll and Bostock

    As you said, alot of our team were around 17 whereas Liverpool were predominately full blown U19's ... looking forward to seeing them against either Barca or Ajax (2 teams with exceptional youth academies)

    we've pulled out due to fielding an ineligible player. Liverpool will now play Barca/Ajax winners in the semis. Pity.

    We have been drawn against FC Barcelona, Olympiacos and Vfl Wolfsburg in Group One of next season's NextGen Series.

    The elite European youth tournament competition - which is based on the Champions League format - features the next generation of world-class players who have been trained by 24 of Europe's biggest clubs.
    The under-19s competition will give our players the chance to take part in a challenging six-month international tournament, culminating in a one-off final in March 2013 to win the NextGen Series trophy.
    The competition proved a major success in its inaugural season, and due to this nine new clubs have signed up for the the 2012/2013 tournament.
    The six Groups for the NextGen Series 2012/13 are:
    Group One - FC Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Olympiacos, Vfl Wolfsburg.
    Group Two - Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Fenerbahce.
    Group Three - Chelsea, AFC Ajax, CSKA Moscow, Molde FK.
    Group Four - Arsenal, Athletic Bilbao, Olympique de Marseille, RSC Anderlecht.
    Group Five - Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Internazionale, Rosenborg BK.
    Group Six - Sporting Clube de Portugal, Celtic, Aston Villa, PSV Eindhoven

    The lads put in a great performance this/last season, shame how we went out though. Good to see us getting drawn with Barca, we should still go through, we hammered the eventual winners in the group stages last/this season (I know they had a completely different team out) and I'm presuming 3 teams go through from 4 of the groups. Results aren't that important anyways, it's a great experience for the young lads.
