SpoirtFest Ireland 2011, Ballincollig

    Hey all,

    there's a sporting and entertainment festival taking place in Ballincollig, Co Cork, during the August Bank Holiday weekend, and the centre-piece of the weekend is an exhibition match involving the John Aldridge Legends team. Details were in Tuesday's Examiner: Soccer legends to tog out for town’s fundraising efforts | Irish Examiner. One thing to note is that purchasing a ticket for the Legends game automatically enters you into a draw for a chance to line out with the Legends themselves!

    There will also be plenty of events taking place in the Regional Park and the GAA club, with lots of events and activities for the family as well. The American Football and Aussie Rules exhibition games should be fun whilst the Ultimate Frisbee game should be a great spectacle. Throw-in martial arts exhibitions and a Lacrosse game, and you'll be exhausted just watching them all!

    As for the concerts, Bipolar Empire and Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club are playing on Saturday night, whilst Aslan are playing on the Sunday night.

    Let's hope we get the weather now!

    Only a couple of days to go! The draw to see who has won a place on the John Aldridge Legends team will be taking place on Friday evening, live on Dave Mac's show on Cork's Red FM. We have decided to hold the draw on Friday so as to give the winner a chance to have their gear with them on the Saturday. They stream live on http://www.redfm.ie if you wish to listen online, not sure what time Dave will be doing the draw though.
