I don't understand why they didn't just go on the radio yesterday instead of issuing statements and sending letters to clubs.

It all comes across as underhanded and rather cowardly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

It's probably a clever enough move from their point of view.

They were smart enough to predict what would have been asked yesterday and the responses to it. This release was likely planned long in advance last week. The timing of releasing it today helps take the sting out of any bounce Reilly would have gotten after yesterday. Had they gone on radio yesterday it would have been harder for them to discredit these points when faced with follow up questions looking for further clarification.

I don't think we've heard the last of all this before Saturday.

What annoys me is the fact that we need an election contest for a lot of this information to come into the public domain and these issues to be discussed.

If you cannot go on radio to defend your record in full confidence as expressed in the letter, then are you really the right person to lead the County Board. What was/is the chairman afraid of ? We have had more communication in the last week from the CB than in the last year. Where is the vision, the leadership, the ability to discuss the issues without fear of contradiction ? If you are afraid to engage in open discussion and get your point across its time to move over. Don't hide in the shadows and sling mud. The CB chairman if he feels he is the right person for the job, should have come forward before now and let the county know what his plan is, if he has one. At the moment its the best kept secret in town.

Another bottle job by the clubs. Very disappointing night.

    Same old, same old.

If Reilly had ran last year he probably would have beaten McMahon and Donnelly. Timing is everything.

Lads just to clarify, the ban relates to an infraction on another forum on Boards. The users post here wasn't moderated

Have any of ye ordered a season ticket? Should get plenty of use out of one this year. Hopefully the wife has one bought for me for Christmas or else I'm gonna be very disappointed!!

Normally get the season ticket every year but not this year. Other commitments going to take up most of my Sundays during the league plus €99 was a very steep hike in price.

I wonder does that mean that the prices at the turnstiles are going up too??

doubt it , i think its more to do with pricing dublin , mayo kerry and kilkenny supporters out of the market , as far as i know they have pretty much reached there limit of season ticket holders and the demand is all the time increasing in them counties

heads up if you do decide to renew for the new year , i held a season ticket for the clare footballers over the last couple of years and i can safely say divsion 3 will break your balls , other then maybe thurles every other ground most likley will not have a scanner at the gate , more often then not there will be a county board offical with a clip board that will take your card number , and for some reason will not pass the info on the gaa, you will have to send an E-mail to get your attendance confirmed

it will offer value for money though should kildare get to the leinster final or 1/4 or better stage of the all ireland but not for division 3 , kildare or clare or whoever should not have to pay the same for a season ticket as the likes the division 1 teams

That's debuts for Liam Healy, Ryan Houlihan and Matty Byrne I make it. Everyone else there has played senior football for Kildare before at some stage. Interesting to see if Johnny Byrne lines out with the hurlers as well this year.
