It is going to be Mayo.................isn't it............

What the hell was up with Paddy taking the 45 instead of Donellan, surely that kind of thing should be decided before a game? By the account of kfm it was a "dismal, dismal" effort...

All officials are now going to favour Carlow in 50/50 decisions as everyone loves a fairytale ending in the Championship.
That's why I fear for Laois in the semi-final.
On todays game Kildare looked like a team who still had goggles on, they couldn't see what was ahead of them, beside them or coming at them and their only answer was to foul the Carlow lads and give frees to a sharpshooter like Broderick ... Total braindead tactics. They looked very unfit and had no desire in them for a fight and Carlow sensed that and destroyed them.

    So after a night if letting that stew, two things;

    1) It can't get any worse...right...RIGHT??

    2) Sure didn't we lose our first match against Louth in 2010 in what seemed like a disaster but ended up a crossbar away from an All-Ireland final? One can dre...wildly hallucinate right?

Actually add a third, O'Neill will remain for the season but barring a complete turnaround we'll most likely see a management shake up at the end of the season - hopefully with the addition of a psychiatrist or even a hypnotist at this stage. TBH McGeeney will likely be gone from Armagh this season too if they don't drastically improve and I'd happily take him back.

Derry. Bar Mayo and Tyrone, Derry would have been in a grouping with Armagh and Tipperary that I rather not have played. Couple that with what will be a tiny travelling support to Derry I'd imagine it will be an extremely tough game.

Wicklow. That happened too. People seem to forget.

Towards end of McGeeneys reign Meath and Cork figures how to dismantle that team. Run at them through the middle. Straight up. Carved open the team. Has been an issue ever since.

Kerry 7 goals under Jason Ryan. System and mental breakdown.

O'Neill tried to correct it with defensive strategy and failed. Then went back to "normal" style and we progressed last year. Players can't adapt, can't defend as a unit or individually, cant break down a blanket defense as default to ponderous possession resulting in turn over.

Doesn't matter who's in charge, they all seem to pick the same players.

So anyway, the qualifiers, derry are no great shakes. Probably on the slide also given league form dropping into division 4 next year. But in the championship they have been seen as a banana skin for some I.e. almost beating mayo last year. Certainly beatable imho or are we expecting the end of our season?

The Kildare that played the league up till Donegal would beat Derry handily enough. Since then something has gone severely rotten.

Derry management if they have any sense will put 13 men back and play us on the counter. Add getting into our faces from early on into the mix and I only see a Derry victory. The team look hopeless and helpless and you just can't get that morale back in two weeks I don't think.

Kildare will have a tough time against Derry at the Owenbeg ground, that is where most of the club championship games are played so it is more of a home ground than Celtic Park is.

Keith Cribbin starts in place of Paddy Brophy (injured before the throw-in).

Good win yesterday. Great to see N.Flynn back.

Will this throw abit of confidence into the lads and push them on after snapping the losing streak? Who knows. There isn't much danger teams coming into round 2 bar Monaghan and maybe Tipp/Down.

2 weeks to sort out the porous defence. Surely CON has to focus on that - we know the lads can put up a decent score. But there's goals and goals to be got against us. 2-14 in both games doesn't bode well.

    Christy Ring Semi-Final:

    Kildare 3-18 Derry 2-13

Kildare v London in the final.

    Tipperary
    Clare
    Carlow
    Longford
    Monaghan
    Down
    Leitrim
    Sligo

Monaghan would be one to avoid I’d love another crack at Carlow

Can we play Carlow again in this round?

Yeah there's no restrictions on replaying previous fixtures, it just has to be a losing semi finalist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,954 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

    Away to Longford

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,954 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Footballers in Longford at 7pm on Saturday 23rd June while hurlers are in Croker the same day at 2pm
