Table has been updated (see previous page) to include everyone who posted by the deadline just passed (0300h).

Keep entering if you wish, the later entrants will be thrown into the general pool but here's the penalty for lateness:

** entrants who register today (Monday) to 0300 Tues will be dropped 3 positions. (e.g., your guess finishes 4th, you drop to 7th)

** entrants who register Tuesday (ending 0300 Wed) will be dropped 5 positions.

Thereafter, no entries accepted. Also, should any temperature be reached on Monday or Tuesday, only entries that are 2.0 above that known figure will be counted as contest entries. So if you're wanting to enter on Tuesday and it happens to be 27.5 at some weather station (not saying this is likely) you would have to enter at 29.5 or higher. Entrants who fail to note this rule in progress will have their entries adjusted up to minimum value acceptable.

Contest entries would be terminated earlier than end of Tuesday, if temperature exceeds 25.0, to protect the field.

Well, under the rules, everyone who entered so far is in the table and the late entrants would lose three positions. From now to 0300h further entrants can try their luck but will lose five positions, and you must enter at a temperature at least 2 deg above current highest readings as they come in.

Monday only managed 20.8 C but I'm pretty sure nobody thought Monday would produce the week's highest temperature, so it's all to play for. There's a variety of wind directions setting up and plenty of cloud to shift each day, so really, anybody could win this thing. The median of all 82 forecasts has dropped about half a degree since I first noted its value (at 27.1). It's now just over 26.5 deg.

Nobody entered on the second late day, which means that the contest is now set. At 1400h I noticed an hourly report of 24 from Oak Park which gives a rough indication of where the contest value now sits. A more accurate reading will be posted later.
