I've been thinking about it for awhile and I want to drive around all the coastal counties of Ireland. Besides surfing I plan to do a project where im going to take portraits of surfers I meet as I go around, document Irish surf life basically.

Now i'm doing research in regards to places to stay whether a camping site or hostel or in the back of my car. I know a good few spots already from magicseaweed.

I was just wondering if you live in a certain county could you point out places I could stay or spots to go and surf. I may skip past something or not even know about it from looking.

Thanks lads ill post a bit more info later! Im in work at the moment.

Of course not. Though if it came up where I met some lads and they invited me a long I obviously wouldn't say no, either would I take photos that would give the spot away.

Is there any surfers on the east coast who would be willing to help me out with portraits in case there isn't any surf? That's the only thing im worried about getting it done with zero surf. The idea is pretty simple just a photo of you either going for a surf or just after coming out. I will post an example later.

Oh, are you thinking about Joni Sternbach?
That is the main reason why I bought Hasselblad! Just cannot find enough motivation to get my lazy behind out often enough.
Something choppy might be happening on the east coast this weekend, let me know so we could get out for one day, please.

Kinda like that. I wont be using an 8 x 10 nor tinting it like that! I want to do what I'm doing with the stranger portraits. I'm sure you have seen some on flickr. Just change a few things angles/slight different posing.

I'm surprised I've gotten no real replies to it.. I've done one so far here in Waterford and he thought it was a great idea. I know its only one guy but its something I really thought all surfers would be interested in. Documenting Irish sufers!

Most Irish surfers I know 1)don't come here and 2)don't give a **** about other Irish surfers.

Go to the beach, get talking to people and ask can you take their portrait. You might get pictures then of surfers rather then people who feel they surf.

Contary to the tone of this email I am curious to see your results and good luck with it.

(what's your flickr too? Portrait stuff is something I find very difficult)

Yeah that's the plan is to photograph "surfers". As in people who have been doing it for a number of years and its more than just a "sport" or something they just do on the weekend.

Im waiting for some good surf here in Tramore so I can actually surf myself and take photos

flickr url should be in my signature but here it is anyway:
