They gave their account which is bound to be biased towards Robbie Cannon. They were there to support him after all. I can't imagine any GUI official engaging in a debate here but I know the country's leading rules official quite well and if I'm talking to him in the near future I will ask him what happened from a GUI point of view.

The key difference being they did not exclude any of the facts - they gave me a pretty detailed account of what happened, none of which are in dispute. Contrast that with Shabalala not telling us the sequence of events despite being an eye-witness to it unfolding. They obviously wanted Cannon to win but nothing they said really tainted anyone but the referee - their only bias probably being that if Cannon picked up the ball and tossed it back to Walsh that from his postion beside the ball, and playing at that level, he felt that the ball had come to a complete standstill and had no chance of dropping.

He may well have been misguided in doing this, no debate.

If you could revert at later date with some insight from a rules official it would be a great help

I'm sorry for posting my first comment, I'm a member of the GUI actually, and as an observer it's what I saw, mr cannon will be contacted re the incident I'd imagine, but there was other incidents in the other semi final that shadow this small situation. So apologies for interfering in your thread,
    Regards

What incidents took place in the other semi which shadowed the above incident?????

Ah guys, this is purely a case of a muppet showing his true colours, getting caught by the balls and letting himself down.
Cannon knows the rules and should play by them.
Says a lot about his character to go bitchin about it on twitter after.
