Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As most people are aware - promoting a show is a nightmare and you have to ring around the country (and beyond) a **** load of times to try and put a good card together - but then it falls apart for one reason or another (both lame exscuses & genuine) and its embarrassing to be calling the same people over & over again to ask for a dig out.
Some answer the phone, some don't (who can blame them really) but I put up a simple message on Facebook last evening looking for someone to box Cathal Manning over 3 rounds and like I said on my Facebook page, thankfully there are still a few warriors around as Dublins Andy Myres stepped up and took the fight.
Everybody in the fight game knows what a fighter puts in to their training on a home show especially as they've sold tickets to their friends & family etc and when the promoter/coach (in this case, me!) has to call them to say the fights off, its a real kick in the b******s.
Anyway, hats off to Andy once again.

Revised fight card as of Sept 21:

1/ Eric Whyte (Galway) V Robbie Downes (Ennis) -84kg 3 Rds FC

2/ Yvonne Mc Nevin (Galway) V Stephanie Mc Mullan (Belfast) -54kg 3 Rds FC

3/ Sean Benson (Limerick) V David Ryan (Shannon) -58kg Irish Jnr Title 5 Rds FC

    4/ Finbarr Kelly (Galway) V Philip Ryan(Kilkenny Top-pro) -77kg FC

5/ Valerie Hamilton (Galway) V Amy Lee Turner (Belfast) -61kg 3 Rds FC

6/ James Ward (Galway) V Darren mc Namara (Shannon) -49kg 3 Rds FC

    7/ Donna Larkin (Galway) V Ursula Agnew (Belfast) - 60kg 4 Rds K-1

8/ Jason Mannion (Galway) V Ciilin Boyce (Donegal) -58kg Irish Snr Title 5Rds FC

9/ Nikki Collins (Galway) V Maria Gonzales (Cork) -55kg 3 Rds FC

10/ Martin Murray (Galway) V Keith Moroney (Carrick) -67kg Irish jnr Title 5 Rds Low Kick

11/ Cathal Manning (Galway) V Andy Myres (Dublin) -85kg Boxing

Due to more last minute pull outs I need a 69kg male fighter (about 10 fight experience - won half, lost half) and I'll accept Full Contact, low Kick or K-1 rules at this stage.
    Also I need a 60kg female (4 fights, 3 wins).
These fighters have sold a lot of tickets so I'd really appreciate if anyone would step up.

Kickboxing in Galway has never been stronger - and after the IKF (International Kickboxing Federation) sanctioned event in Gort community hall on Saturday night, it has moved to an even higher level.
Local fighter Eric Daly, who was the current All Ireland & 5 Nations full contact kickboxing champion, took on European ranked no. 1 fighter Sarwar Hamid who fights out of the well respected "kicks gym" in Brighton under the guidance of Chris Kent.
The prize on this occasion was the IKF European Super lightweight full contact kickboxing title.
The fight, which was of course the main event lived up to all expectations and went the full championship distance between the two world class athletes and had the crowd in a frenzy throughout.
Both men tipped the scaled exactly the same and spot on the weight division and entered the ring in tip top condition and their fitness was a credit to both camps as the pace was incredible with Daly and Hamid showing superb kicking ability coupled with excellent boxing skills but it was Daly who really impressed the judges with a hunger and desire reserved only for people at the top of their game.
Hamid started the fight with a thunderous spinning heel kick to Dalys head which would have knocked out an ox, but eric kept his composure and evaded it and came back with a flurry of well placed kicks and sharp boxing combinations which backed Hamid up.
Hamid came to fight however and really pushed Daly to his limits but Daly was the faster stronger fighter throughout and had the UK man in trouble in the fourth round with front kicks to the face and viscious body punches which slowed him down.
The fifth and final round had Daly ahead on all score cards and Hamid needed a knockout to claim victory so he came out with all guns blazing but Daly was on fire at this point and in total control of the fight and halfway through the round he landed a jumping spinning back to Hamids head, the kind that would normally be reserved for a Hollywood action movie and one which went down a treat with all present as the roof nearly came off the centre.
At the final bell, both men showed the respect they had for each other in true sporting fashion as they exchanged hugs which was in stark contrast to the war they had just been through and then the MC Mr. Alan Duggan announced the winner - "in the red corner" and the small town of Gort and indeed Ireland, had a new European kickboxing champion.
Claregalways Martin Murray also won a major title as he defeated Dungarvans Keith Moroney for the vacant IKF Junior Welterweight kickboxing title in a technical fight that showcased the sport in all the right ways.
Gary Manogue, James Ward and Aidan Brooks all won their bouts by TKO and indeed Aidan Brooks took the best knockout of the night award and the €100 prize money which he kindly donated to a Gort based charity.
All in all the Galway Black Dragon kickboxing club had a very successful night as out of the nineteen fights on the card, they had a total of 16 fighters out with 11 wins, 1 draw and just 4 defeats.
The club extends warm thanks to everyone who helped make the night a success and especially to the sponsors which include Peter Minihanes of Supervalu in Gort, Ger Cloherty construction and the Arches hotel, Claregalway and the Gort community centre and of course to all the fighters, coaches and fight fans who travelled from all accross Ireland, England and Scotland and to the set up crew who worked tirelessly to get the event ready.
New European champ Eric Daly will start a kickboxing club in the Gort community centre on Wednesday, 5th October at 5.30pm for juniors and at 6.30pm for adults and all are welcome.

This was possibly the best Kickboxing show ive been too!! Plenty of well matched fights and the crowd were great also, packed to the rafters too. It was also a pleasure to asked down to be part of the Ref/judging panel. A few fighters stood out for me, Nikki Collins, Chris Coyle, Gary Manouge and Charlie Ward. Super ko by Aiden Brooks and fight of the night had to go to Eric daly who showed the best cardio ive ever seen in a young lad and it looked like no one could beat him that night. Also Cathel Manning in his boxing match too. Well dont to Pete and his crew as they all pulled together all nite to make sure everything went smooth. Looking forward to the next one and best of luck to Eric daly with his new club opening up in Gort.
