[Aug 14] UCD August Air Open 2011

    UCD Rifle Club is pleased to announce that we will hold the UCD August Air Open 2011, on Sunday 14th of August 2011 at UCD Rifle Club Range, UCD, Belfield.

    This is an open competition for 10 metre Air Rifle and Air Pistol.

    Competitions:
    • Air Rifle 60 shot
    • Air Rifle 40 shot
    • Air Pistol 60 shot

    Class prizes will also be presented depending on numbers in each class (based on the first 40 competition shots).

    Entry fee: €15 (€10 students/juniors)

    Pre-booking is essential.

    All entries and enquiries should be directed to ucdrifleclub@gmail.com

    The list of details is as follows:


    Sunday, 14th of August 2011
    • 11:00
    • 13:00

    Dependent on numbers, a 'fun' final will take place after the 13:00 detail, the scores from the final will not be included in the overall or class prizes.

    Many thanks to everyone who took part in the UCD August Air Open 2011, today 14th August.
    The standard was very high at all levels with some excellent results put in.

    Overall WTSC's Paul O'Boyle won the 60 shot air rifle with a fantastic 589, DURC's Aisling Miller took the 40 shot title and RRPC's John O'Brien won the Air pistol competition.

    Congratulations to all our winners and we hope to see you again at our next competition.

    Fantastic from Paul. Hopefully he can hold that form through into next year's competition calendar now.

    And if you think he's good at air rifle, you've forgotten his crossbow results. He put in an 805 in a crossbow match there a short while back. The winning score in the world championships, for reference, was 775 or so...

    Plus, Ashling Miller's score is the first time she's hit the MQS in competition (and that's after a bad start, and without a custom-fitted suit), and John Lancaster's making a lot of progress as well - that 559 was shot despite him spending the morning rebuilding the range lighting (UCD finally has a decent sight picture again :D ) and losing the first 20 minutes of the match to setting up the computers for everyone else.

    Add to that Emma coming back to shooting, and the training in WTSC picking up the pace, and things are starting to look quite interesting for air rifle again...
