Funeral Suits
As their star continues to rise a major commercial and critical breakthrough can’t be too far away for the hotly-tipped Funeral Suits.
A shared love of epic, distorted guitars, blistering harmonius pop, art rock and electronica led to the band spending the best part of two years holed up in a disused office space in deepest North County Dublin writing their debut album which was produced by Stepehn Street (Blur / The Smiths). Recently they have released the single ‘Colour Fade’ (Friends Versus Records) from the aforementioned album and are due to release the second single ‘Health’ some time around late September. This will be their only headline show in Dublin during the summer. Come prepared xx

Sacred Animals
Sacred Animals' native Wexford to Dublin along the coast is a straight road, but veer a few miles off it and you find yourself up in the mountains. From the Sally Gap you can look out across Lough Tay hundreds of metres below and see the wind carving its way through the hills. "The energy is incredible - so primal. You realise life is pretty fleeting. But that's kind of precious in a weird way."
And the music's precious too. It draws on the rich tapestry of styles and sounds that make this such a compelling time to make music but also draws from those hidden places - Darragh's is not a completely clear vision of what the music is and might become. "It's about everything that makes artists we love, people like Thom Yorke, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Ed Droste (Grizzly Bear) create and then go back and explore. I've written songs for years and have always loved doing it. But when the songs start coming out like this, from somewhere I couldn't always reach, that's something really exciting."
Sacred Animals is about just that. Letting the music speak and breath, respecting its nature.

Sunburnt Jets
Sunburnt Jets is the moniker of Monaghan-born, Japan-made and Dublin-based musician Colin Boylan. He is best known for combining home-programmed drum machines, maximum big muff and soothing iminyourhead vocals. His first album (released August 2010) gained interest far and wide from the likes of Nialler9 and Jim Carroll (Irish Times). While his first album was an entirely solo affair recorded in a Monaghan bedroom, his recently released "retreat / out of here / blood brick" three track EP is a much more collaborative affair showcasing his love for melodic post-apocalyptic lo-fi pop.

Rigor Mortis

Was listening to that Sunburnt Jets ep for much of last week. Big step up from the album and the last album was already pretty damn good. Well worth a listen
