What dual suspension bike - best bang for buck? (has to be new)

Ive a hard tail and I want to get a full sus.

funds limited but ........... could possibly go to 2K

I need a good one so If Ive to wait and save more so be it.

What do you intend to use it for? There are loads on the Canyon site for under 2K. I have a Canyon hardtail which I am really happy with. I also know a guy who has the Nerve XC 6.0 and thinks that it is great.

General off road mountain biking in forrests etc. My current hard tail is tough going.

This tool on the Canyon website would probably be of more use to you than I would.

Trek Fuel might be worth a look, Specialized, Lapierre, Kona all have something in that range.

You can go for a heavier type long travel, for hard riding, or lighter, shorter travel suspension for trails etc. Either way it's most likely going to be a bit heavier and a bit harder to climb with if that's what you mean by tough going.

I can vouch for the Trek Fuel Ex 6 anyway, it's fantastic. I paid €1800 for a 2011 model.
Canyon's are excellent too, however, you could be waiting a long time for delivery if your size isn't in stock.

Giant Trance (X-3)! If you are buying local...by far the best trail bike you can buy in my opinion...

if you fancy taking a punt at the internet option then the Canyon Nerve Am would be a good bike for the money..

Would you be interested in second hand? I've an s-works (08) Epic that's not getting the use it deserves so I was considering swapping it for a cheaper hard tail.

For XC usage Nerve MR 8.0, Nerve XC 8.0, Nerve AM 7.0

For a bit of DH Usage Strive ES 7.0, Torque 6.0, Torque FXR 9.0

The above are all 2K. Some of them have cheaper options available.

A shock pump will come with any of the above and a torque wrench as mentioned by studiorat. However the torque wrench is for jobs requiring a 4mm (I think) hex key only.

Ah 29'er have there place...on long fireroad/dual track XC courses you get over in the states...we just dont have enought of the terrain here to justify buying a 29'er with all the short techy singletrack.....that's why the Euro's like Canyon haven't bought into the (American) 29'er craze....

I've seen a lovely full susser Canyon in a sort of light khaki green. I think it was a Nerve, but can't find the colour on their website.

Nice but not very helpful for the OP. Such a bike is likely to cost about triple the his budget. For XC weight matters a fair bit and for the OP's budget they are unlikely to find a new full sus bike within even a Kg of the Canyon which I've posted.

I've read horror stories about reliability of the brains on those bikes.

I should perhaps have been more explicit, I would consider selling my Epic for €2000.

Re Lumen, all working and serviced but when I was researching it, I thought it was the 06/07 that was fixed for 08. In 09 it went to the through seat tube.

If the size fits it looks like the OP may have found his bike then. Due mostly to my own crapness, I wouldn't dare to take a carbon bike out on the trails.
