Im training for a halfiron man triathlon in September. Ive gradually bought my running up to 16K. I usually have New Balance runners and have found them good before, but I was only jogging up to 10K.
Im now finding at about 12K+ mark that my right foot starts to hurt a bit, feels like the shoe is too tight. I bought the runners in Elverys in the Crescent. They have a feature where you can run ont eh treadmill and they will analyses your gait and advise you on the best runner to buy. I did not use this service, but now Im wandering if I should.
Has anybody used this service, does any other shop in Limerick have a similar service?

Go into Limerick Sports and ask for Siobhan. She's brilliant, definitely knows what she's talking about.

Siobhan is pretty good as mentioned by RC.

Steve Gleeson in Gleesons sports is another who gives excellent advice and bases his advice on what he thinks the customer actually needs rather than simply pointing out a good pair of runners.

thanks. Yes I know the shop, and I know Siobhan, she is good....only thing I find with Limerick Sports is that they are very expensive, eg last time I bought a pair of New Balance runners they were almost twice the price in Limerick Sports!

specialist yes, does not have to be the cheapest, but Im not going to pay the most expensive prices either. I think thats very reasonable. IM sure you dont go shopping for a product and buy at the most expensive shop either!

Try Foot Solutions in Patrick St.

OP where ever you go they should give you a gait analysis. This will tell a lot towards what is the best footwear.

You could try asking over in A/R/T http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=972 there are a good few limerick runners over there.

also although UL cannot sell you the foot wear I have seen them doing gait analysis there on occasion so may be worth asking.

good luck in the half....i warn you...its addictive!!!

Elverys have a gait analysis machine. Steve Gleeson in Gleeson Sports is very good at his job and should advise you on what running shoe to wear though

Siobhan in Limerick Sports or Steve Gleeson in Gleeson's all the way, I'm an Asics man myself.

my brother is an avid long distance runner and he always goes into Siobhan in Limerick sports store. I went in to her when I was training the for the half marathon last year and she gave me 20 bucks off too :D

Ditto. When training I swear by my Foundation 10 for distance running and Hyper LD for distance cross country.
