    Hi all,
I hope you can help me. Eircom engineers have replaced cable coming to my home.I was told before that this piece of line was stopping me from getting more than the 2MB I'm getting at present.I know the rest of the line is good. Now I know that I can't get the full 8MB as I'm too far from the exchange, but 3 or 4 MB would be nice.Could you get somebody to re-test the line just on the offchance that it has improved, please.

    TIA.
    Mick.

    PM sent.

You can check it yourself at the following link, look at the url address to see what your line can handle, the part that says "Res&lineSpeed=", mine can handle 3mb so I get the following result, "Res&lineSpeed=3072"

Mine says Res&lineSpeed=2048 so it looks like it hasn't improved yet. But don't Eircom have to do something to raise the speed? Clutching at straws here:):)

    Hi mickzer,

Thanks for letting me know. I will send a request to have the line re-tested for broadband from the exchange. This could take up to a week. So I should be back to you by next Friday.

    Thanks, Mark

    Hi mickzer.

The line is still showing a maximum bandwidth speed of "up to 2MB". Given the distance from the exchange.

Can you PM me with the information you were advised by the technicans please.

    Thanks, Mark

All they said was that the new cable should improve the line.
    It's now showing :

    DSL Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
    Speed: 3072 kbps /384 kbps
    Line Attenuation (Down/Up): 63 dB /30 dB
DSL Noise Margin: 8 dB /22 dB

I'm happy enough with that ( if that's all I can get;))
The 384 upload seems to help a lot.
Many thanks for all the help , Mark.
