There are a few in Dundalk.

However recently I started going to Kwik Fit in Newry.

Found them comprehensive and good value.

I find Laverty's garage in Linenhall street in Dundalk to be pretty good and not too hard on the pocket

Anyone else have experience with Laverty's? I've just bought a 2001 Toyota which (disappointingly) is giving me trouble already.
    Maybe I should have bought a Renault:p

    Is €150 about standard?

Well: I dropped the car off to Lavertys in the weekend (got it picked up by a tow truck actually) - they're going to have a look into why it's a no start. I recommend the tow guy - Martin Duffy *snip* - was a fair price and he turned up when he said he would.

Will have to wait and see if Lavertys can work out what the issue is, without costing too much. The car was running A-okay (starting first crank and pulling well, not missing or blowing smoke or running hot or making any unusual noises). Then just wouldn't start at all the next day...

So far I have confirmed myself that there is spark and fuel getting through (pressure around 3-4 bar), and the camshaft is turning when it's cranked (it's chain cam anyway). All the earths look fine. So maybe the ignition timing has gone way out (poss. sensor dirty?), or something's playing up with the vvt-i to the point it won't start. Or the computer is screwed but still working enough to send spark and injector signals (???) I couldn't get any fault codes off it.

Anyone out there want to suggest what it might be? It's a jap import with the same 1.5 engine as some Yaris have (1NZ-FE), but it's a Corolla Verso body.

    Updates to follow...
