Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How much would i be looking to spend on a downhill bike that would last me, maybe 2 or 3 years. I don't really mind about weight, gears, shifters etc. All i really want is a really decent frame, shocks and rear shocks. Would you recommend buying a second hand frame and then buy all the rest?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eoin

Spend as much as you can afford obviously!

More you spend the better the shox and parts..

    have a look at Epicdh.com

always some good advise from the DH'illers there and some 2nd hands too..

    Canyon Strive ES 7.0

Or maybe the Canyon Torque, although it's a free ride frame so maybe a bit too heavy for a pure downhill bike. I'm awaiting delivery of a Nerve AM 6.0 in a week or two. The frames are getting good reviews. Online order only, but 30 day money back and proper guarantee. Spec hard to beat for value for money. Some argue they look a bit 'functional' which is fair enough. If it needs to be sexy check out a morewood, orange or ghost

You'll be wanting a 2nd hand bike. anything cheaper than 2k new I would be doing some serious research. downhill bike needs to take punishment so it doesn't crack in half on a descent!

    This looks like good value

By the looks of it Canyon don't do any proper DH bikes only DHish bikes. This one.

For that very reason I would look to buy a new bike. With a secondhand bike one can have no idea of the stresses which the bike frame, wheels, etc. have endured.
