Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm thinking of building a rear wheel for a old bike I have, using a hub like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=40707
Does anyone know what all gear changers I can use? Don't really like grip shift
    Thanks all

If you choose a Sturmey Archer hub instead you will have a much better choice of shifter, I do like the shimano 3 speeds but parts can be hard to get, where as all individual parts for SA hubs are easy to come by. If its an old bike it probably would have had a SA hub anyways.

    cheers,for the tip.
Its an old raleigh racer so it doesnt have sturmy archer, but i think i have an old sturmey archer hubed wheel at home. if i build a wheel around it what gear changers could i use?

Do you have the Shimano hub yet?

For an old road bike I'd just use a friction downtube shifter or a friction bar-end shifter on the end of the drop.

FWIW, I've seen Holyboy's Sturmey Archer porn collection documentation library, he knows of what he speaks.

SA have brought out I whole new range of shifters, most of the 3 speed ones will work with your hub, its more than likely the standard AW model, why were you going to buy a new hub if you have one already? Check out Sturmeyarcher.com and Lumen might put a link up to old bike trader (i think thats what its called!)

Oh and if you do have a SA hubbed wheel dont go cutting it out just yet, best to get it checked/serviced before to make sure its ok, as it can only be serviced when laced up to a rim really, and no point building a new wheel only to find out the hub isnt working for some reason, though its very rare! GREAT hubs:)

i think this is defo a must as the wheel is in a shed, and i never even seen it on a bike.
