Who would be your ideal foodie chef? I just love Clodagh McKenna's recipes.

I find that my own cooking tends to suit my taste pretty well, as does my wife's.
I'm also very lucky that several of my friends are really good cooks too - we eat well, often:D:D

Corrigan's in Mayfair was pretty amazing but he wasn't there at the time.
I quite like Paul Flynn's ethos on food.
I must admit that any Jamie Oliver recipes that I've tasted are pretty good too.
I like Hugh Wattly Wattlybottom Smythe's books

To watch - Rick Stein and Heston Blumenthal

To actually cook their stuff - Jamie Oliver and Darina Allen

Fergus Henderson for me. I'm also quite a fan of Keith Floyd (RIP) & Jamie Oliver.

Edit: And Bill Granger. Although he is not a chef I really like Nigel Slater's style.

I grew up watching Keith Floyd - bought his books and particularly loved his exotic trips. I used to collect the recipe pages that Nigel Slater wrote for the Observer, but I find Nigel lacking in energy lately - like it all just soooo tiring *sigh*. Rick Stein was at his best with his Food Heroes series - a brilliant idea to promote regional, artisanal food specialists. Unfortunately Rick has become a bit preachy for me to be able to undergo the full hour. Simon Hopkinson used to write for the Independent - his recipes were published in a book called Week In, Week Out - an excellent diverse collection of recipes. He's now on the telly with a new book out.

At the moment, I can watch Luke Nguyen's Vietnam all day long - love asian cuisine and I became a devotee of Vietnamese food nearly twenty years ago when I bought Nicole Routhier's book - The Foods of Vietnam.

I like the Simon Hopkinson series currently on BBC. Nigel Slater was cooking using leftovers on the segments they showed recently on Saturday Kitchen. Useful advice and some tasty meals. I bought the 30 minute meals book after watching the Jamie Oliver series. I like his food but find him a bit annoying, he has mellowed a bit lately. I really like Paul Flynns Irish food, he is sound and his food is tasty too.:)

Gordon Ramsay and Jason Atherton - have their cook books and love the way their food is prepared, arranged and tastes when cooked at home.

I like Gary Rhodes - he cooks some scrumptious looking stuff but isn't on tv that often.

Also like Rachel Allen, Jamie Oliver and Ina Garten (she makes some savage (and calorie laden:D) food but it tastes sooooo good:o)

I love Heston's experimental cooking. His shows were fantastic! So exciting. I've met Darina. She's lovely. She's coming to Waterford for a GIY foodie event in September. I hope I meet her again.

I like Rick Stein. He seems like a bit Ray Mears in the sense that he tries to find out about local cultures whilst still being respectful of them.

Jamie Oliver for his enthusiasm. I'd prefer if he was on TV less often, kept his exposure a bit limited - more of a TV personality now, unfortunately.

Don't know many of the others other than by name and I'm a little wary of the sheer volume of cooking things on TV. Saw some Keith Flyodd stuff when I was young, which was great.
