Very few IE-owned station houses on the market, think Monasterevan came up for sale not long ago.
Can only be a good thing, rather than trying to secure and make good a myriad of empty dwellings up and down the country.

they would be better then pacers (if any run in that part of the world) then again anything would be better then them horrid yokes, still though they probably saved many more lines from closure and BR proved they could design a low cost easy maintainable unit for branch lines (even though in some cases they run services they probably shouldn't, just like the odd 29 operating a service to rosslare and sligo)

Good evening all,

On Tuesday 20th August I spent the day exploring the Red and Green Line LUAS Tram system with trips out to the suburban terminals of Tallaght, Saggart, Sandyford and Brides Glen. Pictures from the day also include the morning peak arrivals and departures at IE's Heuston Station. While on the Red Line Tram heading out to the Red Cow a little surprise awaited us at Blackhorse. Does the fellow who owns this blogspot page post here at all? I must say I was impressed with some of the photographs on there.

This shot shows Connolly Station prior to the island platform 3 being built; note that today's platform 4 was numbered as platform 3.

This photo shows the former track area adjacent to the original inset platform 4 (at right) being filled in, in order to extend then-platform 3 (future platform 4 when the island platform 3 gets built). The inset platform 4 is where the Connolly–Howth push-pull trains departed from, before DART service came online and the suburban service became Howth-Bray through service for the most part.

Evening all,

A rather busy weekend just gone with photos from both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday 7th September the Irish Railway Records Society organised a outing from Dublin to Portrush & Derry using regular scheduled trains. A visit to the Foyle Valley Museum was also included in the trip.

After travelling to Derry on the Saturday with the I.R.R.S. I stayed in the West Dublin area on the Saturday night which allowed me to visit "The Gullet" outside Heuston Station on the Sunday morning for the G.A.A. Specials from Cork, Limerick, Ennis, Waterford and Galway.

Judgement Day

The Foyle Valley Railway museum while still containing irreplaceable items is a disaster zone and I fear will be a pile of charred rubble one of these days. The City of Culture tag applied to the city appears to have had zero effect on the poor old museum. I imagine most of the sleepers beyond the museum limits are in a rare state - where they haven't been stolen or burnt.

The LU 'mid the gap' signs plastered everywhere are a tad cringeworthy, though that's the least worst aspect.

City of Culture?...pffft.
