Two wee views from Belturbet. The bridge and embankment are that which took the C+L across the Erne and towards Dromod.

It's the 3rd weekend in September, which can only mean one thing. It's the G.A.A. All Ireland Football Final in Dublin's Croke Park. Today, Dublin take on Mayo for the Sam Maguire Cup. Iarnrod Eireann operated Four Specials from Co. Mayo (2 ex Westport, 1 ex Ballina & 1 ex Claremorris) to Dublin to take supporters to the final.

Just spotted this little postcard gem for sale on http://www.collectiblescorner.net/MBS54HomeSept13.htm It's already at €50 - the sale ends on the 25th September. I've never seen the railway at Castlecomer featured on a postcard before and I'd be after it in a flash if I was still a railway enthusiast.

It's a colourised version of the pic in the McNeill/Murray GS&WR book.
Not quite a steal at 50 notes.

I think I've seen that one before, it's nice depiction of one few colliery branches in the country, the coloured wagons look interesting.

By coincidence I just uploaded some material of the Castlecomer branch recently, which I photographed last year.
Places included Deerpark itself, Castlecomer, Corbetstown (the only intermediate station) and Castlecomer Junction - lots of remnants still visible.

Wanderer met 081 down the south of the country on Saturday. Later on that day, Losty spotted 081 stabled up on a little used siding in Westport after her long trip to the West.

I have to admit, seeing those two liveries side by side, I much prefer the silver one. Makes the 2800 look fantastic!

A rare scene of madness at Pearse Station today as no less than 5 trains were sitting within the station confines!

RPSI's 461 and 7 Cravens were due to shunt to Grand Canal Dock for watering after a morning excursion train from Maynooth only to find DMU 29111 sitting at the island platform!

Undeterred by the squatters, Steam Drivers Fox and Jolley stabled their train on the former down line and awaited for DART sets 8608 and 8613 to pass before releasing from the consist, shunting back wrong way towards Pearse, pulling up to the station and moving along the Boston Sidings to take on water. Once there she moved back towards Pearse, reversed back onto the Cravens before taking off wrong road through Pearse to Connolly for her second shuttle of the afternoon. All the while, DMU 29124 looks on before forming the 13:15 service to Drogheda , wondering what all the fuss is about.

The traffic jam. RSPI's 461, two DARTs stop at GCD beside the unexpected guest while the Drogheda bound DMU waits in the Boston Sidings.

    DSCF4410_zpscb30c083.jpg

461 from here on in shunted down to GCD where she took on water via a Civil Defence water tanker at street level.

Following on from yesterday's, ahem, traffic jam; here is 461 making her way towards Connolly. Turn up the sound and switch on full HD if you can; it makes the most out of the recording :)

The low res of your photos makes them really difficult to enjoy. I assume you're doing it to prevent them being 'stolen', but you're completely overreacting and just damaging the quality of your work I think.
