Also, I'm almost surprised that IE continued their misuse of the 22ks by using one for the Bray-Greystones shuttle. Almost.

yes i'm afraid thats how irish rail operate the bandicoot, they have an obsession with operating intercity rolling stock on short distance routes yet continue to operate commuter rolling stock on some services on 2 long distance routes out of connolly, if this was any of the routes out of hueston you can be guaranteed that the proper rolling stock would be used on the long distance routes at all times, ideally some of the 29s would be banished there to operate the killdare commuter with the KRP and time tableing designed to allow long distance trains to stop at killdare only leaving the slow lines for the killdare commuter services, however i expect nothing to change so i've given up at this stage

The low res of your photos makes them really difficult to enjoy. I assume you're doing it to prevent them being 'stolen', but you're completely overreacting and just damaging the quality of your work I think.
Don't know what you're on about. They look fine to me. Looks like Flickr having rendering issues to me on one of them (the Adare station viewed from behind the LC gates) but a refresh cleared the problem.

They're only about 1024 pixels across, obviously he has cropped them before uploading to Flickr. On my screen they look pretty small because of that. I mean I can see them fine, but I'd rather they were high res so you could see more detail and zoom in and so on, like the Wanderer's photos.

Not a huge issue for me but each to their own. It is nice to have people share these pictures as there is effort in photo processing, upload time and what not. Sometimes I just don't get some of the first world problems that people come out with. :pac:

    Evening all,

I've now uplaoded the final batch of my UK trip photos to Manchester and Birmingham. I've also reorganised the galleries into a better order.

    Wednesday 2nd October 2013:
Covers the trip from Holyhead to Altrincham via Chester and the Manchester Metrolink System. http://smu.gs/1concjr

Thursday 3rd - Sunday 6th October 2013: Contains new pictures since previous update.
Thursday morning saw another early start as I make my way from Manchester to Kidderminster, via Stafford and Wolverhampton, for the Severn Valley Railway Diesel Gala.
In the evening time I went to Birmingham to travel back to Kidderminster on the 1715 London Marylebone - Kidderminister Chiltern Mainline service.

Friday and Sunday: A couple of pictures from the Birmingham area.

    New pictures from: http://smu.gs/1coo73w

    Severn Valley Diesel Gala:
I've now put the Thursday and Friday of the SVR Diesel Gala into one collection for ease of reference. http://smu.gs/1agqjVO

    Enjoy,
    The Wanderer.

The photos that I upload to my site are also substantially reduced in size, usually to 1600x1200 to save on space. I find this still gives good quality for viewing on a webpage.

    Loved the Severn Valley photos.

Was there ever a more aesthetically good looking British loco than the Westerns?

    Morning lads,

regarding the quality, I'm having issues with Flickr at the moment. I will start uploading at 1600x1200 to see if that makes a difference. Problem is, the upload speed is less than 1MB/min so I don't want to be uploading for ever :D I wonder can I still use dial-up :D

While you may have an issue re the res - saying that it makes them "really difficult to enjoy" is a little harsh.

Were it not for these guys going out (often at ludicrous times of the day), we wouldn't have a record of the railways of today.

I, for one, get much enjoyment out of all the photographs that these guys take, and I think that they should be applauded for sharing them with the rest of us.

I had terrible problems with Flicki, so slow, not responding etc. so I change my brower from ''Internet Explorer'' to ''Mozilla Firefox'' it seems to have solved the problem.

Yep that the case, I don't take snaps myself only with my phone, wouldn't know how to upload pictures.
But there are stories going around, pictures being stolen (as you put it) off facebook and other websites, railway modellors are the worse offenders I'm told by the photographic fraternity, ''you wouldn't understand'' I was told, but if I was into race horses, I wouldn't like my race horse to be stolen, photographers treat their pictures the same way.
Another quote ''really difficult to enjoy'' but its really ment ''really differcult to steal''

Another photo with me in it, gawking into the cab. :o That was the first railtour I went on. Last time I was ever on a Cravens set, too.

By coincidence I just uploaded some material of the Castlecomer branch recently, which I photographed last year.
Places included Deerpark itself, Castlecomer, Corbetstown (the only intermediate station) and Castlecomer Junction - lots of remnants still visible.
The new look to your site looks really well Eiretrains, the home page makes it easier to view resent photos.
