Look at all those things called "containers" in the Holyhead Yard.
A great view, that's not the Holyhead Yard Wanderer, thats actually Granaries or sometimes known as North Wall Point, its still there. In the centre of the photo is the wagon shop, the bridge in the centre of the photo is ''Johnny Cullen's Hill, just beside the bridge is Granaries signal cabin, long demolished, the base remains to the left where the containers are is the ''Dardinell sidings'' beyond to the left is Lever Brothers Yard.
Top left of the photo you can just barely see the Holyhead Yard, closed in January 2003, now buried under the Spencer Dock appartments, top right of the photo is the Midland Yard, the oldest yard in North Wall. Just below the Midland Yard in the photo is Abercorn Road bag cement store for the Dublin Area it got about 2 trains a week, in later years it became a store for beer kegs, today it's a derelict site. Bottom left of the photo is the stonebank where today the HOBS are loaded for discharging stones in the Dublin Area.
That photo is full of history.
    Regards

    Here's a view from Bing in 2013 I think.

    292869.JPG

Google maps seems more recent though is dated 2014

I'm guessing the bridge in the shot is where you've taken some of the pics you've posted H. Gricer?

Tis! That photo is very resent, the first of the MK3s had just arrived and there's a set (15) of the old ballast hoppers in the stonebank, the level crossing at Alexandra rd had just been renewed.

I should have made the point I was referring to the top right of the picture in my post.

Ah, it's from Inchicore. Wondered how it could have any relation to Letterkenny and it would appear that it has none at all!

Are the 2800's having to run Ennis-Athenry-Portarlington-Limerick weekly for works/checks?

Both sets will be swapped out this week I understand.

I suspect it will be a weekly swap from then on, until the line is reopened with Limerick sending 4X2800 to Galway, via Portarlington and then Galway making up 4x2800 to send back to Limerick, again via Portarlington.

Puts a bit of pressure on Limerick Depot, with such a small fleet. But they are good at stepping up to the mark when the need arises.

The water level was checked today and its still rising .

    Evening folks,

A lunchtime visit to Rosskelton for the 1300 Heuston - Cork & 1220 Cork - Heuston. Once the ICR fleet reformations are completed, the 1300 Heuston - Cork service will be one of several that will become ICR operated.

    Evening all,

While out for a Sunday afternoon stroll I managed to get three videos of 22000's passing Portarlington Station, including an 3 + 5 car formation going empty from Laois Depot to Heuston. On Monday lunchtime 081 was photographed at Ratheven outside Portlaoise with a 1045 Platin - Portlaoise Relay Train. The train had been at work on the Navan Branch during the weekend.

To prevent a private operator setting up here. CIE will rip up all the rails before they would allow any private passenger or freight company set up here. They'll do it too. Just watch.
