Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As in the title when will the Ramadhan start this year? I know the most Islamic website like http://www.islamicfinder.org/Hcal/index.php provide Hijriyah calendar and the start of fasting month this year is on 01 August 2011.

Is there any Islamic council (institution) in Ireland or Europe which will decide the start of Ramadhan most Irish Mosque will refer to? I contacted the Cork Mosque about this and they told me they are waiting for decision from european council or something like that.

Yeah, I know some people start fasting before Ramadhan start. maybe I am too lazy to do that :P

Btw, I just read in wikipedia there is a European council for fatwa & Research which is based in Dublin link here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Council_for_Fatwa_and_Research

But I try to find its website http://www.e-cfr.org/ only available in arabic, Google Chrome can not translate either.

Ramadan starts the 1st of August 2011 (tomorrow).
    :)

Just one thing about IslamicFinder website.. It may be a good resource for prayer times however there are issues with the accuracy of their times. For example there were two Mosque representatives in Aberdeen and Inverness (Scotland) who reported that they have more daylight and very little darkness during the summer thus rendering their Isha and Fajr times difficult to set. The imam of Inverness Mosque had tried Islamic finder for their mosque timetable, but it was giving him the wrong information as day light was a lot earlier than stated.

The wisest thing to do is to follow your nearest mosque IF POSSIBLE, instead of IslamicFinder website.

And this is an article that might be interesting:

    And: http://www.ramadantimetable.co.uk/

    Ramadan Mubarak! :D

Thanks for your suggestion and comment about islamic finder. I have got the prayer time from Mosque in Cork.

Btw. I ask in my first post since at that time when I contact Cork Mosque they replied that they wait the decision from European Council for Fatwa. Then I tried to google it. Surprisingly the council has main office in Dublin.

    Ramadhan Mubarak!

And sadly, this European council for fatwa & Research publishes their reports only in Arabic (I visited the link). I for myself understand the content, but I was just thinking about people who never learnt Arabic and converts, etc... A copy of their reports should be translated to English (minimum) and made available for everyone. It will be fair, especially that the majority of Muslims are non-Arab even (lol!). :D

    Take care all.
