Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Just wondering is there many students from the West in UCC.
Obviously, the numbers will be quite low due to distance, etc. But just out of curiosity?

Hi, well when I was in first year (2007) 59% of the students in UCC where from cork city and county!!

But you always come across a few from far away in Ireland. I'm from Kildare and I'd a friend from Drogheda.

    You could be a minority!

Plenty of students from Cork, Kerry and the likes. I knew of one student who was from Donegal...talk about far out.

Well! I'm from Galway and in 2nd year in UCC

We really are in a minority, us country folk! In my course I'm the only one not from Cork!
Its brilliant though because when you come on your own you arent obliged to stay friends with your school friends, you can mix into loads of different groups :)
What are you hoping to study do yoou mind me asking?

I got to know alot of my year and as far as I can see from bus travelling and such there are currently 8 from Galway and met one from Achill and one from Ballinrobe, even one form the Aran Islands!

We're few and far between now to be honest :)

    Eggineer!

How's the form?! Hoping to do Music-Arts or the BMus.
I do be hearin' that UCC is more trad music orientated so that would suit grandly! To be honest, I wouldn't want to go to Uni with my current mates anyway so Cork seams ideal!

    What are you studying yourself?

Nope you're not the only one! Though I'm heading into third year. Don't know about the rest of the west but there were at least 20 odd coming down from Clare in my year! And around that much the following year.

few and far between! I'm from Sligo!

As far as I know there's a decent amount from Galway seeing as its that bit closer and every now and then you come across a few from the other counties...I have seen a couple of Mayo jerseys floating about..!
Tended to get a shocked reaction whenever I said Sligo but they could do with a bit more diversity down there, its mainly Cork, Kerry & Limerick from my experience!
