We've repainted our hall stairs and landing with Crown Solo Mid-sheen emulsion. It was the same colour as before & looks fine everywhere except on stairs where the light from the hall window hits it & it looks all patchy with shiny bits and dull bits. 3 coats later there's no improvement. Anyone have a solution, I've a new carpet coming on Wednesday :(

Is it is strips or just small patches,if strips i'm guessing it is the roller marks if patches and you had done some filling then it could be the filler flashing which you can get when painting with mid/soft sheen.

not strips, patches of shine and patches of matt all the way up the stairs. No filling done just painted over the wall with a new tin of the same colour (Crown Mid-sheen San Fernando)
