I lost my Garda age card!

I lost my age card last week when I was out. I thought that I would be able to just order another one like I got my first one but someone told me that it could take yours to track down your old one so I mite'nt be able to get one. Is this true?

I lost mine ages ago and when I was in my local Garda Station getting my passport done we asked about my Garda I.D. They just said I need to re-apply online. haven't got around to do so yet but it seems simple enough
