You're not trolling ed2hands, you just have a poor conception of what atheism generally entails.

    Oh please enlighten me Ciaran...

They generally call themselves "scientists" aswell, usually after three short years studying some science-based course or other.[...] Just wondering do these outspoken atheists realise they're doing the same thing in trying to ram their beliefs down other peoples throats?
Well, since you're referring to outspoken atheists - and hey, we've plenty of these here! -- could you give a few examples of posters in this forum who are "labelling themselves with all sorts of flattering qualities" and who are "ramming their beliefs down other people's throats"?

What i think you're saying is that most posters on here are not the one's i'm referring to. That's fair enough.
What I'm saying is that you are being a trifle rude about atheists in general (accusing them of self-flattery and belief-ramming), and especially people in this forum, when your only experience of atheists is somewhere else. By all means criticize those other people as much as you like. With quotable quotes as well, so folks here can understand. But I don't think it's all that fair to go painting all atheists like that :

It's offensive to some is it not that they so nonchalantly claim some sort of ridiculous scientific intellectual high ground. It's offensive to me anyway.
I've no idea what some person told you, so I've no idea what you might be offended by. But have you seriously considered that, apparent or real pomposity aside, it might actually be accurate?

It seems some like to dish it out, but are quite put out when it's returned at them. And that's not referring to you or anyone here as such.
Well then, when if you're complaining about other people, then make it clear that's what you're doing.

And, in all fairness, I must point out that while you seem to enjoy dishing it out yourself, you seem to be quite put out yourself too. Pots and kettles! ;)

I agree, ed2hands, outspoken atheists in the pub who seek every opportunity to blather on about religion are a pain in the arse, and give most of atheists who only blather on about it here, a bad rep.

On the whole, yes, we find religious belief utterly daft and somewhat bemusing, but it's not polite to go telling people that unless they've thrown it in your face, or you find your rights curtailed by someone else's beliefs.

Atheists don't inherently have 'beliefs' to ram down anyones throat. We just don't buy into religious claims. And yes, I think your religious beliefs are stupid - until you can back up your outlandish claims I will continue to do so. I won't bring it up unless you start the conversation though.

And I'd say back to you - read up on 'Pascal's Wager' and check out this video and come back to me with a decent argument so you don't embarass yourself next time.

    great video!

Of course i have. I agree with atheisms conclusions, if you want to call them that, for the most part. And i assure you the pomposity was real:).

:)Er yes, well, don't think i was that put out.
Anyway thanks for the replies and apologies for the unintended lumping of posters with those other uppity sorts.
