Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just put down my deposit for the J1 IWT

Well, after months and months of deliberation - I finally put down my deposit for the year long J1. I have been going out with a US citizen for the past 25 months and this is the next big step for us. However, I was doing some searching around boards to see what the next step after this year would be for us. Hoping some people on here can give me some advice.

IF we decided to get married after or during the year - would I be forced to return to Ireland for 2 years ( I can't find info from iiecenter.org to say if the visa includes the 2 year clause or not). I fear that this would set us back to square one all over again.

I doubt getting sponsored or winning the diversity lotto is an option - as the chances are slim for both.

What would boardsies suggest? Would it be smarter to not go on the J1 IWT and just apply for the spousal visa instead??

    I'm getting extremely worried now!

The two year home rule only applies to certain people as outlined on the US gov site here.

Ok, from what I can see there it does not apply to me as A) It is not funded by the US gov B) It is not for medical training and C)Nothing to do with the skills list.

Thank you very much for the link. I was searching through other sites looking for clarification on this. The scary thing for me is I don't want to do something foolishly now just for the sake of getting it done quicker - as it will inevitably end up biting me in the ass in a few years time.
