Would a ducting reducer work in reverse?

    Hi,
I have a big 2250m3/h fan sucking air out from the ceiling in a room and want to put in four ducting reducers similar to here. http://www.ductstore.co.uk/acatalog/355.html

I would like to have the small part on the external wall and the large part blowing over something but would the air being pulled in by pressure spread out over the large end?

    Thanks a mill.

I could be wrong, but I am fairly sure you lose efficiency if you reduce the diameter of the duct. This is certainly the case with dust extraction systems as used in woodworking workshops. I know that the standard 4" ducting on these systems is improved if the ducting is increased to 5".
