Cycling weekend

    After many failed attempts to get friends in on this and unavailability of those who have done so before I'm putting this up here to see what kind of interest there is.

    Cycle Trip up North-- Antrim

    Possible Dates:
    Sept 16 – 18 or Sept 23 – 25 or even Sept 30 – Oct 2. Chances are of drier weather at this time, maybe..??


    Longest Route --238 Km

    • Larne to Ballycastle – 65 Km
    o One of the most scenic routes in Ireland
    • Ballycastle to Benone – 60 Km

    • Benone to Larne – 113 Km back through Ballycastle

    Middle Route -- 187 Km

    • Larne to Cushendall –40 Km

    • Cushendall to Portrush – 54 Km
    • Portrush to Larne – 93 Km

    Shortest Route -- 148 Km

    • Larne to Ballycastle –65 Km
    • Ballycastle to Cushendall – 43 Km
    • Cushendall to Larne back Coast Rd – 40 Km


    Trip will involve travelling up on the Thursday evening and returning Dublin on Sunday so prob just 1 day off work required.
    If anyone is interested in a this cycle, in what I understand is spectacular scenery (see Bob Montgomery’s Great Drives) with few beers in the evening let me know.

    Could always take this in on the saturday if numbers were short..

    Ah Jasus, that rules out that weekend so, as I presume roads will be closed off for the likes of me!

    That looks like a good event. Has anyone done it? Unfortunately i'm away this year. But will put it in the calender for next year.

    You'll be fine, sportifs are charity events where people go at their own pace, they raise money for charity and usually have food stops so could be the perfect day. throw in a few quid and your lunch is sorted and you'll meet loads of new people. Go for it!

    Yeah you'll be fine.This is actually a great way of seeing that part of the world.Supposed to be fabulous.Can so any of the distances you want and you'll have company all the way round.Go for it.This are very light hearted affairs with food thrown in too...:D
