Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

there is a thread running over on after hours about how one of our ex bankers got a parting gift of a watch when he retired, the cost of the watch was 11.5k plus the tax man got a few quid so as tax in kind would not have to be paid bringing the total to 20k, no mention of the brand was made, any ideas folks.

It was bought in Paul Sheeran's, so it's not a Rolex anyway.
I'd go with a Breitling for Bentley....with gold.

Sheeran's are the official IWC distributors in Ireland AFAIK. They also sell Jaeger's and other high end watches. I would go with a Reverso.

Something fairly tasteless and non-functional anyway.

(well my watches remind me of me at least)

well, given the arrogance of that lot I doubt they asked for a discount (on our behalf....cause ultimately it was us that bought it for him) but even still 11,500 should have gotten him a pretty decent watch although if he is into his watches and given the sort of money his lot were creaming for themselves I'll bet its not, by a long shot the best in his watchbox.

(Forgive the bitterness, I lost enough money on bank shares to buy myself twenty 11,500 watches, f'n Timex would be too good for them.)

Agree...or in fact, rather than be let own watches, they should be smacked in the face once every half hour if they want to know what time it is.

Sheranns had breguet for a while.
It classic simple and very expensive. 20k would buy something nice
