    where you will get a receipt - proof of the cost of the van - you will be claiming a capital allowance for the van over the next 8 years, so a receipt or proof of payment is essential

    if you want to use it as business expense, then you would have to get a receipt or at the very least if person you are buying it from wont give you a receipt just ask a garage to value it for you if possible. also if business is registered for vat then vat could be claimed back on it ie currently 21% but you would have to get revenue compliant vat receipt ie name/address/vat reg of dealer selling you van.
