    Can anyone recommend a child proof lock for a velux type window?

    When I say "lock",it cant actually be one that can be locked with a key,as it it for a fire escape window in an upstairs room in a dormer bungalow.

    The handle on it at the moment is at the bottom of the window(so low enough that my 2yr old can reach it) and is similar to this type;

    Is there any other type of catch that could be added to the window frame?

    You want a window restrictor. It allows for the window to open a certain ammount and then it stops, but an adult can slip the catch to allow the window to open fully if needed.

    I'd suggest doing a search for window restricter and the type of windows you have most can be self installed.
