Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The cheapest is fastgsm Unlock Samsung GT-i5500: $9.99 (€7) and a lot of the lads here have used it. You can pay through paypal so it very safe that way. Just unlocked mine tonight. Its quite simple and there is a video to guide you as well.

Just look at the video a few times first because it can be a bit tricky.

There are two things you have to download and install first.

    1. Drivers
    2. Samsung unlock Client.

    Good luck.

i blame the thread starter >_>

    :D

I asked about that but he's not gotten back

Just checked my balance...a fiver. I still have the data add on. I'm guessing it was €5 for the mistake + €5 for registering - €5 addon = €5.

You were probably the one that told the teacher if they gave the same homework twice! :D So Captain do you want my email address so you can send me what I've lost by PayPal like? :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,324 ✭✭✭Alter-Ego

Ah well it was good while it lasted. And it was decent of Three to credit us all with €5. I'd spent a bit on calls and the data package already so it was still a nice freebie.

Yeah can't really complain, it was never advertised, only said on this thread by posters who got it. Very decent indeed to give free €5 credit though. Besides all the money they will have lost from the mistake then they give away more as an apology for it. Can't say I would've done the same in their position.

I use the sim in an internet dongle for when I'm on holliers, very handy indeed.

    Didn't like mine,

Gonna hold out with the trusty Nokia until iPhone 5. The screen is big enough but too small for txting with my big thumbs,
especially after having an iPhone for years. Otherwise it was ok in most other departments.

Try the free thick thumbs app.
    It worked for my trotters.

I bought one yesterday, and it has turned itself off three times now, even with battery over 50%.

Is there a setting i'm missing?

what are the best apps? suggestions?
    i got endomundo for running.

    I want big keyboard too:)

Cant connect to samsung apps without first doing an update but for security reasons phone is set to block applications from non android market.

If i go to settings and allow update then its at my own risk, and if I ignore update I cant proceed. its a samsung phone with android o.s. so whats the big deal:confused:

Risky. I typo'd and didn't unmount /efs and consequently borked my IMEI.

Typing them in wasn't the problem. Catting a binary file was. I wasn't thinking and assumed I was in a text editor. ctrl + c would normally exit a text editor, but it killed adb instead. I logged in again and umounted, but no luck.

Had a quick go, but no luck. I'll have another go when I get time.

Anyone else having battery problems with this? I put in on full charge, not using it at all and the battery is dead within 18hours. Is there something to do with the amount of apps you download? I know the battery life on these types of phones is not the best but I would expect at least a day if the phone is not being used. The thing drainging the battery the most is the "cell standby

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,900 ✭✭✭daytob

you can get yourself ultimate juice or green energy * something like that, or even you can use superbox.
change the display brightness and make sure you arent constantly checking for updates * sync every 6 hours or so

Smart phone, touch screen. Is never going to give good battery life.

Same here, battery not great, would not want to be away from charger for long spells.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,324 ✭✭✭Alter-Ego

I got a spare battery on Ebay for about €4. Small and slim so it fits in my wallet easily.

Make sure you have GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth turned off when you don't need it. I've also read that you should turn the phone off and charge it for at least 8 hours when you first get it.

How long does the fastgsm unlock take. The software seems to be hanging on me- went through some phone details. Last few lines:
    SUBSET LOCK CODE : 00000000
    SP LOCK CODE : 00000000
    CP LOCK CODE : 00000000

On the phone it is asking KIES or UMS mode only. Am I supposed to select one of these? No mention in the guide.

Above those lines it says "UNLOCKING PHONE : [OK]"
I wonder is it done. THere is still an option to abort.

Edit: Never mind, just disconnected it and its done ok.

I had the same problem. Was sitting looking at it for ages before plucking up the courage to do something. You might have been a little lucky because in the video guide it says to select "KIES" mode.
