Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you want to stay in touch with the progress of the Irish team during the International Cup from August 12th to 27th in Australia read my blog.

I'm also running a fun competition to guess Ireland's score in their final game, hopefully the Grand Final in the MCG in Aug 27th. It's only €5 a guess or 5 guesses for €20, there's some great prizes and will give you an interest in the team's progress.

Any idea about the availability of the guernsey for purchase? Saw it on afl.com yesterday and Azzurri have done a good job.

    first results:
    Ireland v Timor-Leste

    Ireland 14.9 (93) def Timor-Leste 0.0 (0)

The Irish Warriors have kicked off their tournament with a 94 point win over the Timor-Leste Crocodiles at Blacktown.

In sunny conditions with a slight breeze, the Irish got off to a solid start with quick hands and hitting targets up forward.

Timor-Leste battled hard to spoil but the Irishmen's height advantage won out in both the ruck contests and the marking contests up forward.

Big man Clifford Richardson kicked two for Ireland with the Warriors going in to half time with a 54 point lead.

The second half saw the Timor boys fight harder at every contest, tackling fiercely and refusing to give up.

Some better kicking may have seen the Irish further in front but they comfortably put on 44 points in the second half. Sadly for the Crocs they've already accumulated some significant injuries.

Richmond’s Irish signing John Heslin kicked his first goal of the competition and veteran John Enright kicked three goals for the quarter. Timor-Leste lost their full back Carlos due to injury which didn’t help his team’s cause.

Timor-Leste had a chance to score after a 50 metre penalty put them 70 metres out from goal but strong rebounding play from the Irish denied them.

    Ireland
    Goal Kickers Enright 3, Richardson 2, McDonagh 2, Breathnach 1, Flavin 1, O’Brien 1, Sheils 1, Walls 1, Tierney 1, Heslin 1.
Best Players: Heslin, McElhone, Flavin, Cunnane, Tierney, O’Brien.

    Timor Leste:
Best Players: Neyl, Adelio, Carlos, Marcos, Hakim, Delio

    Ireland v Great Britain
    Ireland 8.6 (54) def Great Britain 1.0 (6)

Although the Great Britain Bulldogs have played Ireland Warriors many times now, they haven’t been able to match Ireland for skills and style.

The Warriors came out strong with impressive kicking and accurate handballing.

Their style quickly broke through the Bulldogs ranks and they took first blood, but the Bulldogs came fighting back, surging forward when they got possession and flying in to smother the Warriors kicks.

A fierce fight in midfield saw both teams struggle to break down the opposition back line, and frustrations either side resulted in several high tackles and pushes.

Eventually the Bulldogs broke through, snatching a goal back from the Warriors.

However, the Bulldogs’ momentum was shortlived and the Irish immediately responded with another goal before the halftime siren.

Again in the second half, both teams battled it out in the midfield. However, the Warriors’ spirit paid off, breaking down the Great Britain opposition and dominating the game.

After Bulldogs player Anthony Trigg had to be helped off with a knee strain, the pressure became too much for the British side.

With superior composure, penetrating kicks upfield, impressive marking and accurate shots on goal, the Warriors ran away with the game.

    Ireland
    Goal Kickers: M. Carey 2, K. O''Brien , G. Walls , C. Richardson , F. Purcell , N. McDonagh , J. Enright
    Best Players: B. Nannery, J. Cunnane, D. McElhone, M. Carey, F. Purcell, P. Sharry

    Great Britain
    Goal Kickers: C. James
    Best Players: W. Worthington, P. Harris, L. Matias, S. Walton, B. McGeever, C. James
