It would make a difference because publicly knowing (and you would imagine this process would be very public) and privately knowing is two different things. People who vote for him in probably would not want him to admit what he has done in the past to the world as it might reflect bad on them. So they would probably stop voting for him.

That statement of the bleedin obvious is most welcome.

What do you think the reaction would be if the British admitted their role in murder squads?

I don't know. The British Army is so big and so many do sign up for it, so it would probably not make much of a difference. Might harm Sinn Fein though.

Its more the sas who have sullied their reputation in the north in my opinion at least some members of the british army have condemed the actions of their colleages in bloody sunday ect.

Its a pity david ervine isnt a live today he seemed to be willing to move on from this he was an example to both sides of the conflict.

I cant see anything coming of it, It would open more wounds that healing them and I would guess that the loyalist community would see it as another attack on them as most of the sectarian killers and killings were from that community. The way forward is the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

A lot of the loyalist communtiy seeing being a catholic as an attack on the community theres only so much nonsense we should listen too. I agree the truth and reconciliation commision woul be required.

And there we have it saint eddys true agenda. Care to qauntify how many 'A lot' is?

What? It is true. Everyone knows about Bloody Sunday and so on, as we seen from the public inquiry that was released not long ago. And what has changed really? Nothing. People still joining the British Army and people from this island.

It would be different for Sinn Fein as they are trying to move away from the past in regards to the PIRA. A full truth process could only harm Sinn Fein imo.

Ah a lot would be the number of people throwing stones and urines at kids going to school Junder (holy cross), a lot would be the number of people who burned catholics out of their homes Junder and a lot would be the number of people in the uvf who killed people because they were catholic Junder. I cant put a number on the amount of people in the loyalist community who hate catholics but considering the lack of comdemnation from a large proportion of the loyalist community who dont condem the above I would safely say its a lot.

In all fairness and if your honest with yourself it would be the British government who would be most harmed and if i am correct SF are all for a truth commision.

Well i take your point on board realies but then again, it begs the question, who would benefit from it? So far all i see is bad and ugly truths coming out for all sides.

Gerry adams should come forward, those on the loyalist side should come forward and the british government should come forward I think most are in agreement over that. I dont think Gerry should hide his part in the pira anymore. As phil coulter says "whats done is done and whats lost is lost and gone forever, I can only hope for a bright brand new day in the town I loved so well".

Bigotry is abhorrent in all it's forms saint eddy. however when somebody who try's to set themselves up as some sort of anti sectarian crusader, stoops to bigotry it's even more distasteful. In case you are unsure of what bigotry is, when you start making unfounded Generlizations or vilifying and entire community for the actions of a few, generally falls into the category of bigotry.
