I'd like to do this myself so as to save a few quid but i need as much help as I can get from the knowledgable people that are on boards. Can any one give me a step by step guide as to what to do?

    Thanks

step 1: bring it to a professional.
step 2: pay him (or her) for services rendered.

don't bring it to a "professional"

    its a peice of p!ss.....
    • Take off blade sharpen it
    • change spark plug
    • clean air filter > replace if very dirty
    • take off sump plug (underneath deck) >drain oil
    • replace sump plug then fill new oil >SAE 30 (lawnmower oil)

    bobs your uncle

First you should run the lawnmower for a short while to warm the engine oil.

Then disconnect the sparkplug cable to prevent the lawnmower starting accidently.

Then drain the engine oil while it is hot.

When you sharpen the blade you should also check it for balance

Here is a link which shows you how to do it.
