Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi guys
i have been searching around for some place to buy hen eggs for incubation, but have not had much luck. i have bought them on the internet but have had very bad hatching rates from them. the breeds iam most interested in are white leghorns and rhode island reds.
does anyone know where i would get a few dozen of each?

where are ya? we have an incubator and touch wood its going good so far, its pot luck buying them off other people , would you not buy a breeding pair and incubate the eggs, at least you know that the eggs should be fertile

Check out local poultry sales/shows .Here in galway they are on nearly every sunday and are advertised in donedeal you should pick up hatching eggs at them . Whelan1 is right about a breeding pair or even a trio especially if there is a particular breed you want to concentrate on

You were quick off the mark, I deleted that again when I saw the OP was from the SE.

    How come @ Them?

Full to the brim of sheep. Cattle Monday night and experimental sheep sale before the Monday night cattle sale from the 22nd.

I know one in particular that sells back there he has them in a dirty old shed at home with all hens and cocks mixed you wouldnt know whats going to pop out of his eggs despite what he might tell you . Better off getting eggs at a poultry show where the breeders are much more genuine

any eggs we have bought of people have never hatched, we have a few breeding pairs and an incubator, great crack-excuse the pun- for the kids, should pick up a breeding pair for €20.. we have lavender pekins, silkies, marons and buff orpingtons... we got 6 duck eggs off a friend and 3 of them hatched
