Im thinking of buying a Ferguson 100E HD receiver + 65cm dish + cable in a package for €149, from FreeSat.ie

    http://www.freesat.ie/index.php?cat=Free-to-air

Is there a reason why its so cheap? Am I missing out some essential features? I already have a saorview TV.

You'd work out better buying a Ferguson Ariva Combo 120 which will allow you to watch Irish DTT channels and UK sat channels on the one box. You can get it delivered for approx €80 from Poland or for a bit more from Irish sites. You should easily be able to get a dish, and cable with the leftover €70.

I agree the 120 is based on the 100 E and is an excellent box for both satellite and digital terrestrial .Make sure you get the latest 1.15 firmware released today if you do decide to go this way.

    Thanks for those replies.

Im doing the installation myself. Will I need a compass to get the dish orientation correct to the nearest degree, or can I just point it in a roughly SE direction?

Do yourself a big favour and buy one of these to make your job much easier:

While your there get this receiver:

Also at bottom of receiver page under "you may also be interested in"

get 2 f connectors. One sky mesh dish and 20m of coaxial. That should be pretty all you will need.

When checking out use coupon code Boardscombo (case sensitive) to get a boards.ie discount kindly supplied by tony a regular member here.
