Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

To put Freesat in the bedroom, you'll need a cable going from the dish itself to the bedroom. How many outputs are on the dish's LNB (thing at end of dish that the cable goes into - it might have spare ports).

To get Saorview, it'll depend on location and any obstacles between you and the transmitter. In some cases, an indoor UHF aerial might work, for some, an aerial in the attic could suffice.

You should probably have a look in the Terrestrial forum for more Saorview info.

    hi guys,
wondering if you think mpeg 5 is worth having?

thinking might get a uk version tv and get the combo box of freesat and mpeg 4 as below:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-LE32D550-32-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B004S5ZV2K
    http://www.satellite.ie/acatalog/Free_to_air_HD_Satellite_and_Terrestrial_Digital_Ferguson_HD_Ariva_Combo_Box.html#aFerguson120Combo

does the samsung LE32D550 can already receive irish digital???

    what do you think?

can save a bit of money??

I did something similar myself recently. I have the Ariva 120 combo box and can highly recommend it. If you are going to have the combo box, there is probably little value in getting a saorview TV, in my opinion. It looks like the Samsung may be able to show Saorview as some sites inidcate it has MPEG4, but I can't be sure. MPEG5 is only useful for teletext AFAIK.

Something I found handy in terms of wiring in my case were sets of combiners and splitters, which allowed me to use the one cable to bring both Freesat and terrestrial signals to the TV (you split the signal apart again behind the TV). They're relatively cheap. I installed my terrestial aerial in the attic, but needed a booster for the signal when I split it in two, even though I am high up with a clear line to Three Rock. I might have got away without a booster if I stuck the aerial on the roof, but it suited me this way.

    I hope this helps.
