What will you say if Dublin actually lose?

Pretty much all goals are scored in front of the goal and in close vicinity of it. Donegal haven't conceded a goal in the championship, and it isn't hard to see why when you see their defence tactics. I'm questioning Dublin's ability to win when they're not great at long range shots, and probably won't get the opportunity to score a goal given Donegal's tactics.

What point are you making at this stage or are you just drum-beating?

Have u not just contradicted your previous posts here???

I'll wake up, yawn, stretch, and then look forward to the real game. Donegal are going to be steamrolled.

The whistle went this evening. There were no scenes of triumphant jubilation, no running down to Hill 16 with the fist pumps. Just like their manager this Dublin team mean business. If they lose against Donegal hype will have **** all to do with it.

Same with Donegal after the Ulster Final, lads back in training on Monday, no 3 day long sessions there, intense training session on the Thursday. The young lads are leading the way, don't want to be bottlers and pretty to watch.

This'll be intense. Dublin will win bit know they've been in a battle.

Dublin are too far ahead, then again I said that about Kildare!

    No, I haven't. Read them again. Here's a summary:

I started off by refusing to get into this "Dublin will destroy Donegal" hype based on this one very good performance from today. I opted for a much more considered view. You then said it was surprising with all the space Dublin had today they couldn't convert a goal, somewhat insinuating that Dublin seem to have this inability to score goals. I completely refuted this by posting the total number of goals Dublin have scored this year. Some nonsensical posts followed about scoring in front of goal or something else and then here we are, with me reiterating my point from my first post that Dublin may not score goals against Donegal because of the Donegal style of play.

So yeah, if you point was Dublin can't score goals then you're talking crap. And if that wasn't your point, I'd like you to tell me what it is ;)

I just reckon Donegal could be tough opposition for Dublin. If Dublin beat them, they will have a shot at the All Ireland. When the Brogans are on fire though they are hell to stop and Donegal will have to come up with something to counteract their influence. I think if the Brogans are off form, Dublin could be in trouble.

I agree re: the brogans but still with Connolly I reckon Dublin will have enough in the tank. Either way in 2011 like 2010 we are going to have a new entrant to the final who haven't been there for 16 years like Down last year, that tells you the whole thing is getting more competitive and open. This year is also the 1st year that no "backdoor" team has made it to the semi's. From a Kerry POV I'd be more afraid of Donegal than Dublin.

The Kildare Vs Donegal first half was the most piss poor football I've ever had the misfortune to watch. Kildare got very tired and sloppy in the second half, that's the only reason Donegal fluked it.

I love the defiant stoicism from (YOU SHALL NOT PASS) the Donegal supporters as much as the next man.:) But. Like i said before that won't win the game. At the other end Dublin are hardly profligate with the opportunities they cough up (something thats escaped the attention of the Donegal will make it difficult brigade). Either Donegal improve tenfold in their attacking play or they'll be going home disappointed. Anything is possible i suppose.;)

Donegal's defensive type of play to frustrate the Dubs and Donegal to prevail with a point or 2 victory IMO.

So can anyone tell me when the tickets for this game actually went onsale??

Im not long home from todays game and by looks of it tickets.ie have already gone round certain sections of the ground and sold tickets??

Ticketmaster has nothing onsale so far. I dunno im confused :P

Because i use ticketmaster theres no sign them being onsale there yet and no date given. Plus the game is bloody 3 weeks away lol. Give people chance pay for one game first.

The tickets for both Semi-finals are for sale on tickets.ie whom are now the GAA's ticketing choice @ €40 with no surcharges or any of the typical crap that Ticketmaster are good at ripping people off at. I got my tickets for Kerry V Limerick last weekend from Tickets.ie and you just print them off at home simples.

It said on TV the GAA had sold 70,000 tickets this evening yet only 52,000 made the journey was the rain that heavy there?

Rain was pretty bad all right, but I wouldn't think there were 18,000 no-shows. That being said, there were 5 empty seats beside me in lower cusack - season ticket holders too, so they paid regardless. Missed a cracker :P

and also why dublin dominated tyrone tonight!! Tyrone gave Donegal a much better game than they did Dublin. Surprising with all that space Dublin couldn't convert a goal!! The dubs are on a mission every year!! too much hype surrounding Dublin every year!! It will go to the heads and Donegal will be happy to watch it all unfold over the next 3 weeks :D

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

so what if tyrone gave donegal a game ??? dublin whipped them and will beat donegal.

As for goals, don't worry boyo, they will come shortly.

I bought a youth and adult ticket for Lower Cusack/Davin stand this evening and ended up in 313 around MM I think. I had options for individual tickets in 312, and when I tested the upper sections I got row A in 702. Over at the Hogan I was ending up with 327. I think Ticketmaster might have specific sections (e.g. 302, 328 is what I seem to get when I book hurling tickets on their site) but I couldn't say for certain.

I would imagine the tickets went on sale just after the match

If you're buying Hill 16/Nally tickets, buy them on Tickets.ie - they're unassigned anyways and you're saving money on the booking fee. You don't even need an account, just a laser/credit card.

After todays weather and the 40 euro price tag for the semis ill watch it on tv if with 3 weeks to go before the game the half decent seats are already gone.

Shame cause been to all games so far this season.

Tickets for Donegal Dublin game were on sale on tickets.ie when I checked on thursday. Tickets were for sections 311 and 317.

What surprises me is some of the tickets you can get online are better than the ones you can get through the clubs. Tickets we got for the kildare game where the worst Ive ever had for Croke Park. Lower Cusack, Row WW on the goal line. Couldnt even see top of the goal posts. Thankfully Roscommon supporters left after their game and we took their seats on the 45. But its a bit of a disgrace clubs get such rubbish seats IMO.

Tone it down a bit, where is all this confidence coming from? If Connolly and the Brogans are stopped who is going to get the goals? Superstar O Gara?

So i take it the likes of 308 cusack are already gone for this game then??

I presume so since apparently Tickets.ie offer you the "best seats automatically" and I could only get 312/313. That being said, you might check Ticketmaster if my theory on them getting assigned specific sections is true.

€40 for a semi-final isn't that bad and the weather today was manageable with a decent poncho. If you're going to all games you should have nabbed yourself a season ticket - 304-306 all season for me and a €5 discount on the regular price :)

We've seen Donegal play. Simples. And deep down, you know it's true as well. It'll be a practice game for Dublin, nothing more. Pity we're not up against a more challenging and professional style team to be honest.

Its coming from beating tyrone by 7 pts (should have been more).

While Donegal are a handy outfit they ain't no Cork - Croker is a big and we'll see if Donegal can stop the FF line......... roll on the 28th.

That doesn't mean Dublin are going to win. You should know better considering whats happened in the last decade with Dublin football, the Armagh game in 2002 a prime example.

How do you go about getting season tickets?? I might look into it for next year.

    http://www.seasonticket.gaa.ie

They go on sale in December/January usually. First come, first served. Ticket costs €75.
    Pros:
Free entry to the Allianz league games. Free entry to first championship game. Discount of €5 to all other matches except finals (full price). Croke park season tickets means great seats :D. Go to 60% of total matches (championship & league) and if your team gets to the AI Final, you're guaranteed your ticket. Go to 100% of the matches, you have a chance to win an AI final ticket even if your team doesn't make it.

Cons: You get charged for the matches in the championship even if you don't go unless you use your opt-out, which you get only one of.

Turned out to be great value this year tbh - the double headers in the league where I got to see the Dublin hurlers and what they're capable of means I'm now forking out the cash to follow them as far as they're going too. Damn GAA, I haz no moneys :p

Thanks for the info i guess ill think about it haha its a while away yet.

Im more worried about the next game right now :pac:
And unless ticketmaster pulls out decent seats out nowhere ill be watching it in the pub!

By the way the ****e some fans are coming out with now about this game being decided weeks before even happens is embarrassing. Dublin proved today they can play some good football but ffs Donegal might not be nicest team to watch but they got this far for a reason. They will have there game plan i feel if Dublin play to there best they can win but it wont be a push over very few semi final games are. Id rather the Dublin fans would not get carried away with themselfs because we have proved over the last decade that hype gets us no where.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,648 ✭✭✭gooch2k9

Can't see this game being as open as tonights game. Dublin forwards will certainly not have the same amount of space as today, they will have three or four men around them at all times.

Honestly, I'd expect no more than a kick of the ball between them, unless one team gets a good early lead which may be hard to fight back. More than likely to happen for Dublin as as previously said they make the transition from defence to attack much better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,036 ✭✭✭Sanity_Saviour

I really can't see how Donegal are not clear favourites by now. Example A: Michael Murphy, soon to be the best footballer in Ireland.

    christ....

I dont think all Dublin fans are like this well the genuine ones anyway.

Yes Dublin are playing good football at the moment but the performance against Wexford would suggest that if Donegal get things right on the day they have every chance of beating Dublin. Tyrone were well off the pace tonight especially the backline, I expect Donegal not to be.

He may well do, no one could honestly say he definitely won't. Based on recent showing it could be a while before he starts to shine along with Shine:p( ha terrible!) Best player in the country is a bit of a stretch though. Of course he has potential, but making him captain seems to have hindered his game. A lot more pressure on him now.

I guess GAA is the only place on Boards where the moderators dont look. How in gods name is monty the troll allowed to continue to post rubbish.

Anyway Donegal according to Monty do not play as a team, my god their whole system is based on the collective and not the individual, forwards defend and backs attack. What planet are you on?

Donegal pick their team on politics and not ability?? Could you back that statement up or withdraw it?

Monty you are either a 14 year old boy or are one of the great band wagon jumpers that join the dubs every year, maybe its time u went back to the soccer, the premiership will be started soon enough for you.
