They need to get tough on it, zero tolerance is the only way.

Cant help but think that if this was in the States people would be getting blown away by now.

I hear what your saying, but this is really unprecedented stuff. It's fluid and they keep moving. Some want to have a pop at the police but most seem to be little scrotes robbing stuff.
Tonight will be the make or break for the police.

At least you can protect your own property without fear of doing time for hurting some scumbag.

My dad reckons that all those arrested should be chained up in chain gangs and made to clean up the cities they have wrecked. Kick up the arse every time they stop.

12.46 BREAKING The 26-year-old man shot in Croydon last night has died.
RobitTV, link to official sources and stop posting in bold.
    Thanks.

    Btw,
    http://www.independent.ie/world-news/europe/man-shot-in-riots-dies-in-hospital-2842950.html
A 26-year-old man shot in a car during riots in Croydon last night has died in hospital, Scotland Yard said today.
A number of large fires were set by rioters and looters in the town including a huge blaze which gutted furniture business Reeves which was torched as violence spread across London.
Amid the disorder Scotland Yard said it had found a 26-year-old man in a car suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police were called at about 9.15 last night to reports the man had been found injured in Warrington Road, Croydon.
A spokesman said: "Two other people, believed to be in their late 20s, were also at the scene. They were arrested for handling stolen goods and taken to a south London police station."
The man was taken to a south London hospital where he is described as being in a serious condition.
The shooting is being investigated by Scotland Yard's Trident operational command unit, which deals with gun crime in the black community.
The Reeves family said their lives had been ruined by the fire.
Owner Trevor Reeves told Sky News: "It has just provided my family and the 15 or 20 staff and families that were supported, it's just completely destroyed.
"Words fail me. It's just gone, it's five generations. My father is distraught at the moment. It's just mindless thuggery."

Can a curfew be imposed without declaring martial law?

You have to do that in case it's an unchained gang and they run away.

Why do you all give a sh!t? I don't believe every single one of you have family or friends in London.

Worse stuff happening around the world right this minute.

they'd probably just make off with the sweeping brushes they were given. Really hope they get bored with this soon- surely they'll have ransacked every shop in the locality by now?
Also, this "making people strip" thing- how are they going to make money off of people's socks and undies? This isn't just a greed thing, it's sick and twisted nutjobs looking to wreak havoc wherever they can.

I have several friends and 1 family member there right now, spread around London. I give a **** not onlu for their safety, but also because I'm genuinely unable to understand the mindset of the perpetrators- this isn't a revolution, there's no "cause" to fight for, it's just people taking scum to a whole new level.

Famines and bailouts are a bit of a downer compared to watching round-the-clock rioting.

    There's nothing to explain, really.

It's basically a cross between instant messaging, and texting; or texting through the internet rather than a phone network.

To blame the riots on BBM is ridiculous. It's one means of communication, if BBM didn't exist, they could text each other, chat on facebook, twitter etc. Or shock horror, maybe even use their mouths.

I've got a Blackberry, like half the people in this country. It's not to blame, I don't even understand why the media even feel the need to mention it.

It's a private messaging service afaik. You set up and nominate people to be in a 'group' and they can conference with each other.
