HTC Desire S after a 40 c Spin Cycle Wash

So a few weeks ago put a 5 day old HTC desire S through the wash, it is on a 18 month contract and vodafone want € 480 to replace it, no insurance on the phone. Have dried it out in the hot press for a week and battery etc seems to be working just no screen display. Any advice, worth getting it fixed, replacement screen or…

ps- cleanest phone ever and conditioner does make a difference to the softness of the phone but do not recommend anyone trying this
