Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone ever had an experience with waterbelly? Had a case last week in a calf. Never had a case before not even my father ever had one.

glad you asked :) is it where the calf's belly is full of fluid when it is being born? thus making it difficult to calve:confused:

I never heard of it either, but now I'm intrigued, tell me more..........
Does the calf usually survive? Causes etc.

I think that is exactly it. My father was calving the cow, couldn't bring it sought the help of a neighbor, no luck, broke calving jack, phoned vet, no luck there either. The vet had to make an incision in the calf which caused a pool of yellowish brown fluid to flow out. It didn't survive but was alive at the start. From what I have read it is usually bull calves that are affected. I think it is due to the formation of kidney stones which cause the bladder to rupture and urine to leak into surrounding tissues. The calf when it was pulled was like a deflated balloon. Cow is doing well though.
