How much power do I need?

Here's what I'm planning on building:

Asus Sabertooth p67 motherboard
Intel i5 2500k cpu
Noctua NH-C12p cooler
Corsair 2x4GB Vengence DDR3 1600 ram
Nvidia GTX570 gpu
Western Digital caviar black SATA 6gb 1TB HDD
LG DVD drive
In a Coolermaster elite 430 case with max fans which is about 5 I think

I'll be overclocking it and future plans will be to stick a SSD and another HDD with Raid 0 configuration.

One website tells me I need 850W of power recommended while another says I need 650W of power.

Can anyone help/advice me on what would be a good power supply to power my build?

A decent 550W unit such as the XFX Core Pro 550W or the SuperFlower Amazon 550W will do you fine.

If you don't SLI. Any plans in the future to do so?

No plans for SLI really. Would upgrade to a Quadro if I do in the future.

I have read in other places that I should get a good quality 750w PSU for the GTX570. The 550w could be underpowered under load and such. The GTX570 demands a lot of power apparently...

I wouldn't go as low as 550W. Power draw skyrockets when you start OCing graphics cards. My 580 pulls almost an extra 100W when OCed from 772 to 980.

The minimum I'd recommend to you - to be safe - would be 650. 550 might do it, but you'll loose efficiency under load.

Not really, have a look at this review:

Even when OCd under completely unrealistic benches you are looking at less than 25A on the +12V rail. An OCd i5-2500k is under 10A. The XFX Core has 44A on the +12V rail so you are well under its limitations.

Also you want a PSU that is most efficient when idle, not when its under load as 90% of the time that will be the case.

I've read on forums where people said their PC would turn off under load with a 550W PSU and the GTX570 gpu. And the GTX570 uses a lot of power. You should get a good quality single rail 12v PSU with 25A atleast and such...

It's probably too much. Friend of mine has a very similar build with this PSU, works fine.

It should also be noted that in that review they are drawing off the both the 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe connectors to the very limit (and indeed beyond ) of the amount of power they are supposed to be supplying, so that is pretty close to as high a load as a GPU with both 6 and 8 pin pcie connectors can (should) go.

That's a good price. I'ld need to borrow my friend's credit card to order it though...

Do you think I'll gain any advantage just going ahead and getting the 750W PSU from komplett? Its only about 20eur more expensive...
